I've been to the fountain. It's beautiful. I recommend going early in the morning.

Millions of tourists every year visit this beautiful fountain. They crawl over a jungle of people to take that one picture, throwing 3 coins in the water for good luck.
That water comes from an ancient aqueduct, the Aqua Virgo, 9 meters below ground, built in 19 B.C, still functioning to this day as it provides water to many Roman fountains. The water itself comes straight from the mountains above the city through the aqueduct. The pure, cold, fresh water is tested for purity by the City of Roma and is drinkable. Not the Trevi fountain water once it recycles
A visit to Trevi Fountain and the underground aqueduct is a journey through time, capturing the essence of Rome's eternal beauty.
