Had a really fun day with a client staying at the beautiful Villa de Osa Beach House. Near the island we found a spawn of little red crabs and the Snapper ( both red and Cubera) were voraciously feeding on them. This is a rare sight as Snapper are a bottom fish hanging out in the rocks. To catch Snapper ( and a nice Rooster) on top water is pretty unusual and a blast. After moving closer to one of the many river mouths we found a nice Corvina bite and Snook mixed in. All in all it was a day I will never forget. Capt Willy Team Salt Life - Drake Bay, Costa Rica.

Three great days of offshore and inshore fishing with our long time clients and friends from Iowa staying at the beautiful La Paloma Lodge. We caught many species including Roosters, Cubera Snapper, Yellow Fin Tuna, Sailfish and Amberjack to name a few. Look forward to seeing you again next year ! Capt Willy

Had a great time fishing 2 full days with Joe and Dal from Texas. Inshore we found some beautiful Snapper and Pompano. Offshore we caught and released some very energetic Sails along with some beautiful Tuna. Check out the vivid yellow colors on the Tuna Capt Willy Team Salt Life

Had an amazing time with our friends from Germany. I have been fishing these waters for 25 years I don’t think I have ever seen a Goliath Grouper this big ! I could see him on the Garmin and he looked like a bus under the boat. We snapped a few nice pictures and let this beautiful dinosaur go. Shortly after that we hooked, caught and released a big Nurse Shark so we had about 600lbs caught and released back to back. Loved fishing with these guys ! Capt Willy Team Salt Life

Had a great time with Don and his friends from Florida. These guys are in their 80’s and still hitting it hard. Over 3 days we caught and released some big sails ( see acrobatic leaps), Roosters, Snapper and several other species. A great time with these repeat clients.

Having an awesome time and catching a ton of different species with our long time clients ( and friends) from Europe. These guys are hardcore fishermen that fish 6 straight days and typically release all their fish. This is great, I want my kids and grandkids to experience the amazing fishing we have all enjoyed. Awesome day with Capt Willy on the Reel Time yesterday. Coach Greg Williams from Auburn University lit it up on the Tuna. The water was super calm and the Tuna were jumping everywhere. If you’ve never caught a Tuna on a Top Water plug it’s a heart pounding experience. Just several hours later we enjoyed an incredible meal at Claudio’s Grill with Tuna prepared several different ways - a magnificent day ! Capt Willy Fish Drake Bay

Mahi Wednesday! Tons of Mahi around Drake Bay these days. As an added bonus a big Yellow Fin and a Sailfish. Not a bad way to spend the day. Awesome day yesterday with repeat clients staying at the beautiful Villa de Osa rental house in Drake Bay. Lots of Mahi and Tuna and to top it all off a nice Cubera Snapper and Rooster !

Good news and potentially great news to start the week. First the Mahi or Dorado are beginning to show up in Big Numbers already! This is a bit earlier than usual but we are not complaining. Second a big win for Sport Fishing in Costa Rica - commercial boats are prohibited from using live bait for Sailfish in a 30 mile zone. This is a victory for sailfish conservation for sure. Incredible two days of fishing with clients from Costa Rica. We caught Cubera Snapper ( one 60lbs ! ) Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi and even a nice Sail ( released ).
