Still making memories out here …

September 15,1994 Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge cobra head comes to Mile High Stadium in Denver Colorado. As a local I helped rig the cobra head and climbed up into at 300’feet up, they did not require harness back then. The Stones fed us well with steak and seafood at catering, also on site massage therapy and barber if you had time to stop your day. Charlie Watts was very personable and attended the day time set up and drum head change on his kit where we goofed off and shot the bull a bit. Security was tight. A good paycheck

September 19, 1992 Metallica and Guns N Roses at Mile High Stadium w Body Count opening the show. This is one of my favorite stories to tell:

I was running a spotlight on the second story of the FOH tower shown in the foreground.
Body Count came out first and played a rowdy show and a bit atypical for the crowd that was assembled there. Metallica then came out with a recovering James Hetfield from a burn incident at a show in Canada and also rocked the show with a guest guitarist taking James place (James sang)and I’m pretty sure that one was mostly in broad daylight but it still rocked. Guns N’ Roses was Up Next but axle Rose was having a tantrum and it’s rumored that Barry Fey had to go out to his limo and threaten him with a gun and /or legal action to get him to come in and play the show. At the end of the show axle took his wireless mic and threw it into the crowd and it sailed about 60 yards in the air into the crowd in front of me at the spot tower. Crack! It smacked into a dudes head right in front of me and the cracking sound was heard in the PA all thru the stadium. I thought to myself oh that guy is going to be knocked out!. Dude must have been on some good drugs because he bent down and grabbed the mic and started dancing with it above his head! Immediately the noise boys on the first floor below me scrambled out to confiscate the microphone and I am sure without an apology. “ Did you see that!” came over the headset. We all had a good laugh and resumed our chaotic bally Hooos on the spotlights ...
