Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur recently inaugurated a heliport at Rampur in Shimla district. He added that the government has also taken several initiatives to lure tourists to unexplored areas, and is working toward developing a network of heliports to improve air connectivity in the state.
He further informed that the work at Shimla heliport near Sanjauli bypass road, Baddi in Solan district, and Rampur have been completed already under UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme. Reportedly, helicopter service operations will soon start at these sites.
The Chief Minister further added that the heliport at Kangnidhar in Mandi was nearing completion and that another one is being developed at Manali.
The CM further added that the heli-taxi services on Shimla- Rampur-Shimla route started in December 2021 and that flights were already operating thrice a week. He also stated that the one-way fare per passenger is INR 3275.
The government had recently sent a proposal to extend helicopter services to Chamba and Reckong Peo, he added.
If we go by reports, there are around 64 helipads in the state, whereas 38 new ones are being developed, the Chief Minister added. Flights on the Delhi-Shimla-Delhi route were also being restored, he stated.

As per the latest developments, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has removed price caps on domestic airfares with effect from today. This move comes after a span of approximately 27 months, and it was initially implemented when COVID hit the nation.
Now, with the removal of price caps, all domestic airlines have the freedom to decide fares on domestic routes and will no longer be required to regulate air tickets according to fare caps set by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The Aviation Ministry, earlier this month, stated that the decision to remove airfare caps has been taken after careful analysis of daily demand and prices of air turbine fuel (ATF).
After the announcement, Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia tweeted, stating that stabilisation has set in and that they are certain that the sector is set for growth in domestic traffic in the near future.
As per the reports, ATF prices are also coming down after jumping to record levels, primarily due to the Russia-Ukraine war that began in February.

In a recent development, Nagaland just got its second railway station after a gap of more than 100 years with the commissioning of a new facility at Shokhuvi. Dimapur Railway Station, which is situated in the heart of the commercial hub of the state, was inaugurated in 1903.
As per the latest reports, CM Neiphiu Rio flagged off the Donyi Polo Express from Shokhuvi Railway Station, which used to run daily between Guwahati in Assam and Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh. Now, the said train service has also been extended till Shokhuvi, which is around a few kilometres from Dimapur.

In a bizarre incident, a self-proclaimed ‘descendant of Tomar King’ has claimed the ownership of the land on which Qutub Minar stands, one of India's most prominent monuments in Delhi.
In his plea, Kunwar Mahender Dhwaj Prasad Singh has said that the land and complex where the historical Qutub Minar stands today belongs to his family. He said that the land is owned by the Beswan Family and heir of Raja Rohini Raman Dhawaj Prasad Singh and descendants of Raja Nand Ram, who died in 1695.
He also countered that the government had no right to decide about the land surrounding Qutub. However, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has opposed Singh's claim. On Wednesday, the ASI asked him why he didn’t say anything for the last 150 years.
"He wakes up some morning and comes to this court as an impleader without any basis," the ASI said.

•The government of India has announced its decision to start issuing tourist visas to foreigners, starting from October 15, 2021. This major decision was taken to boost inbound tourism to India. As per the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), this will be applicable to foreign tourists who are travelling to India through charter flights. It has also been said that others who are coming in through regular flights will be permitted entry from November 15 onwards.

Inbound travel will commence with all COVID related protocols in place. These protocols issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, from time to time, must be followed by all foreign tourists, as well as carriers carrying them into the country, and all stakeholders at the landing stations.
