We first laid eyes on this peak in April 2013. Two years later, in April 2015, we returned with a client group, established basecamp at its foot, and spent a week ticking off these couloirs and those on the peak on the other side of the glacier, which is equally magnificent. It’s been our go-to basecamp location on ever since, for obvious reasons. Swipe 👈 to see camp in all its glory.

While the spot has been good to us, we’re switching it up for 2025. The new location is a little under wraps, for now. All that’s been disclosed to clients who are booked or have inquired is one photo and the name of the general area. Can’t tell you how much we’re looking forward to reliving the same feeling we had in 2015 of pioneering a new zone and ticking off first descents once again!!!!!

Session One: April 20-28 is FULL.

Curious what’s happening with our Svalbard trips? You may have noticed that we’ve yet to update the website for 2025 and there are a few reasons why…

☝️ We’re changing basecamp locations—for the first time since 2015—and being completely honest, we don’t have any bangers (or really any photos at all) to post of the new zone. Sure, we could post irrelevant Svalbard bangers, but we’ve decided just to wait until we have new content. We’re VERY STOKED on the location, which has been discussed amongst our guides for a few years now. The few photos we have seen are incredible. If you’re curious, we have one in particular we can share over email.

✌️ We’ve had a long list of email inquiries to work with, and simply put, email has been an easy way to disseminate trip information. So anyone who has contacted us is in the know, and they are getting first dibs on booking.

Regarding bookings!

April 20-28 is FULL.

April 27-May 5 is coming together as we speak. We are in touch with two separate crews of two: a past client + a buddy of his, and two new clients. Assuming all book, we will have 2 SPOTS LEFT.

Scenes from our partner village in Kyrgyzstan.

Not a ton has changed since we first stumbled into this amazing place almost 16 years ago. Pretty cool, though, to see upgrades to our partner family’s home every year…especially that time we arrived to find indoor plumbing and the addition of a bathroom and shower!!! Hard to believe the girls used to tow sleds and old Soviet milk cans down to the river to fetch water.

These awesome snaps by don’t tell that story, or describe the depth of our relationship with the place and family, but they do tell an important part of the 40 Tribes Kyrgyzstan story:

Votes are in (irony intended 😂) for our April 27-May 5 itinerary. We have a past client and a buddy of his who are interested in a second session using the same basecamp that we’ll be using for our April 20-28 itinerary (which is full).

This is a NEW ZONE, and the few photos we’ve seen are incredible. It’s not super far from Longyearbyen, but rarely visited, and has been discussed amongst our guides for a few years now.

The itinerary will offer 5 full days of skiing from camp, with plenty of time to ski on arrival day as well…especially seeing that camp will already be established AND the will be shining! On Day 6, we’ll break down camp and transfer to the funky abandoned Soviet mining town of —a fascinating place that is seeing a bit of a renaissance with a hotel, restaurants, and bars. Should make for a really fun and unique end to the trip, and there’s plenty of skiing to be done right outside of town.

SPACE ON OUR 2025 SVALBARD TRIPS HAS OPENED BACK UP!! Back in September—before even posting updated information to our website—both of our 2025 itineraries filled, in just a few days. We had a long list of email inquiries to work with. HOWEVER! The group who had put their name on the April 27-May 5 dates have recently decided to switch over to our Greenland trip. So we now have space for those dates!!! There are 3 different itinerary options on the table, and we are planning to commit to whichever the most people are stoked on.
