Police arrested on Friday at least six persons, including two teenagers and a Social Amelioration Program (SAP) cash aid beneficiary, who were caught gambling in Bagong Pook, Barangay Ligtong IV, Rosario, Cavite.
The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) also arrested, also on Friday, at least 12 suspected drug pushers and users in operations in two cities and three municipalities of the province.
A PPO report, released on Saturday, April 25, identified those arrested for illegal gambling as George Duly Dacusin, 43, jobless; Roel Simudlan Remoto, 23; Rodin Tumangi Reyes, 19, a “tinapa” (dried fish) worker; Crizel Quinto, 21; Darlienel Paller Reyes, 18, a sales lady, and Ronnel Paller Reyes, 24, a helper, all residents in the Ligtong area.
A team from the Rosario (also called Salinas) police nabbed the six suspects as they were playing “tong-its” (a card game) in the area at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Seized from them were two sets of playing cards, one playing table and bet money amounting to P234.
The suspects were brought to the police station following their arrest.
Staff Sergeant Donatila C. Quinto, case investigator, reported that the team had found out that Dacusin was among those who got the recent cash aid that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) rendered out under SAP in Barangay Ligtong IV.
The Cavite PPO also reported on Saturday that 12 suspected shabu pushers and users were arrested in operations on Friday in capital Imus, Cavite City and the municipalities of Tanza, Silang and Naic.
The drug suspects’ names and their identities were in reports that the PPO relayed to the media during the day.
The PPO reported that the suspects, who were nabbed in buy-bust operations, would be charged with drug pushing in courts.
