DAY 1: ARRIVE IN TANZANIA.

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will meet us at the arrival point
with the signboard written your names on it.

DAY 2: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK.

Today we head to Tarangire National Park. The park, which has its own source of water, comes into its own in the dry season as birdlife congregates on the Tarangire River and herds of giraffe, zebra, buffalo and, in particular, the elephant can be seen.
Predators such as lions and leopards are also regularly spotted here.
Our lodge is located outside the park with a stunning view of Ngorongoro Crater.

DAY 3: GAME DRIVE TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.

We head towards the Serengeti National Park. En-route game drives and there is an
opportunity to visit Masai Boma alongside the way to Serengeti.
There are always plenty of resident animals, such as giraffe, buffalo, and elephant, and many
large predators such as lion, cheetah, and leopard in the park.

DAY 4: ANOTHER FULL DAY GAME DRIVE IN SERENGETI NATIONAL
PARK.

We have another full day in this wonderful park, rising early to make the most of our time.
Our guides will choose the best spotting locations for the time of year; we can spend time at
the Hippo pool watching these majestic animals laze about in the cool water happily living
alongside the crocodiles, watch a big pride of lions, be in the middle of the migration,
sometimes surrounded by wildebeest, sometimes by zebras, which travel with the wildebeest.
We journey from the wide-open plains to the kopjes: these volcanic rocky outcrops provide
protection and shelter for a wide variety of animals and from the top, we can look out across
the vast grasslands of the Serengeti. This diverse and interesting landscape will provide us
with the ultimate in game viewing, we will hopefully see all of the plain games; elephants,
giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, lions and if you are lucky the elusive leopard and cheetah, as well
as huge amounts of the interesting birdlife, from the elegant secretary birds to the flightless
ostrich. We return to our special tented camp for the night.

DAY 5: GAME DRIVE IN SERENGETI TO NGORONGORO CRATER.

Morning game drive in Serengeti; afternoon drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
We have a final game drive in the Serengeti before heading back to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater where we spend the night.

DAY 6: GAME DRIVE TO NGORONGORO CRATER.

Sleeping near the Ngorongoro Crater means that we are one of the first vehicles to descend into the caldera. Ngorongoro is a Conservation Area rather than a national park. This means that the whole area is managed for both the animals and the local Maasai people who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife. During the drive down to the crater floor, we will gain a glimpse of the Maasai’s lifestyle. The crater walls provide a natural sanctuary for the animals, which means there is plenty to see: lions, elephants, buffalo, rhino, and leopard (if you are lucky enough). The only animal you won’t see here is a giraffe, whose long legs are unable to cope with the steeps sides of the crater. Later this afternoon we will leave the crater and drive back to Arusha.

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN TANZANIA.

Arrive anytime at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). We will arrange a private transfer from the Airport to Moshi at the Park View Hotel, where the rest of the day is at leisure. We stay at the Park View Hotel, which is beautifully located on the slope of Mt. Kilimanjaro and is a perfect place to prepare for your adventure.
We will gather in the evening at the hotel for a pre-safari briefing and an equipment check.

DAY 2: MATERUNI CULTURAL TOUR AND HOMESTAY WITH CHANGA.

Village walks, guided waterfall hike, coffee tours, local primary schools visit Chagga traditional dance, traditional Chagga local food, cooking classes, banana beer experience, and the unique view of Mount Kilimanjaro.

DAY 3: GAME DRIVE IN TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK.

Today we drive to Tarangire National Park, for excellent game viewing. Tarangire is a small park that offers some excellent sights. Generally, in the dry seasons, Tarangire comes alive as the wildlife and birdlife congregate on the Tarangire River, which is a permanent source of water. We spend the night in our lodge beautifully set outside the park with stunning views and a unique atmosphere of great rift valley wall escapement near the Ngorongoro Crater.

DAY 4: CULTURAL TOUR IN LAKE EYASI.

In the morning clients will join the Hadzabe and interact with them, and learn so many stuff like how to make fire by using two dry sticks, the way which has been used for thousands of years. The Bushmen will teach them how to use their bow and arrows, collecting some tubers, roots, and fruits with the women or join the men on hunting. Hunting is done in the morning; clients will follow the hunters behind and see how the hunting is done. The honey gathering is part of it, but depending on the season as the honey gathering is done in the rainy season. Join on Hadzabe tribal dance. Here the tour may take 3 to 4 hours

DAY 5: GAME DRIVE IN SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.

We head towards the Serengeti National Park. En route, there is an opportunity to visit Olduvai Gorge. It is within this steep-sided ravine that Louis and Mary Leakey made some of the world’s most important archaeological discoveries in the 1950s. Here is a small museum we are able to see evidence of our ancestors that have been dated back 2.5 million years. After lunch, we drive into the Serengeti itself and the rest of the afternoon is spent game viewing in the vast plains that are broken only by stands of acacia trees and the occasional kopje. In December, January and February we will normally meet the migration with large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. There are always plenty of resident animals, such as giraffe, buffalo, and elephant, and many large predators such as lion, cheetah, and leopard. We return to our special tented camp for the night.

We have another full day in this wonderful park, rising early to make the most of our time. DAY 7: SERENGETI TO NGORONGORO CRATER.

We start the day with an early morning game drive before heading to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ngorongoro is a special place in that it is a Conservation Area, not a National Park; this means that the whole area is managed for both the animals and the local Masai people who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife. During the drive-in Ngorongoro, we have a chance to glimpse something of the Masai way of life. After stopping at the entrance gate, where there is a chance to learn more about this fascinating volcanic landscape, we will drive around the rim of the Crater itself, and from here we can look down and see the herd of wildebeest or buffalos. Finally, we descend into the crater. The crater walls provide a natural sanctuary for the animals, which means there is plenty to see: lions, elephants, buffalo, rhino, and leopard (if you are lucky). The only animal you won’t see here is a giraffe, whose long legs are unable to cope with the steeps sides of the crater. In the late afternoon, we travel back to our special tented camp.

DAY 8: A FULL DAY GAME DRIVE IN NGORONGORO CRATER.

Today we will descend 2000 feet (over 600 meters) to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater for your crater tour. Here we will explore the forest areas inhabited by monkeys and elephants, the lake area, where we may see flamingos. We will also visit the open savannah where the lions hunt. Picnic lunch will be served in the crater. In the late afternoon, we make a short journey to Karatu.

DAY 9: GAME DRIVE IN LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK:

We depart from your tented lodge in Karatu and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park. Although small in size, this park is one of the most diverse reserves in the country. Lake Manyara covers two-thirds of the park. At the backdrop is the wall of the Great Rift Valley, before which lies the groundwater forest, areas of open grassland near the lake foreshore, and the Soda Lake. We enjoy a picnic lunch in this area, which consists of open grassy areas, hot springs, dense woodlands, and steep mountainsides. Lake Manyara National Park is a birding paradise that has more than 350 species of bird. The park is also famed for its unique and elusive tree-climbing lions.
In the afternoon we drive back to Arusha.

DAY 10: ARUSHA TOWN TOUR:

The morning after breakfast we will make a short journey to Arusha town for shopping and visit the local Maasai market then drive straight to the airport for your evening flight.

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN TANZANIA.

Arrive anytime at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). We will arrange a private transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha at Coffee Lodge,
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania, proceed to get your Tourist Visa at the cost of $100 USD per person. This visa is for American and Canadian passport holders, fees to be paid in exact cash. You will also need a yellow fever vaccination certificate. Your passport has to be valid for six months past your return date, and most have empty pages. After clearing customs and immigration, our representative will meet you and assist you with transfer to the Hotel.

DAY 2: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park

Morning at leisure and safari briefing followed by lunch. In the afternoon you will depart Arusha passing through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee, and banana plantations. At the town of Makuyuni, you turn North West and continue the journey up through a scenic escarpment that brings you to your lodge, perched on the edge of the Rift Valley with stunning views over the distant Lake Manyara. Arrive at your Lodge by late afternoon check-in at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. This highly unusual lodge is built in traditional African style, perched on the very edge of the cliffs, with stunning views over the lake you find the pool bar and observation point. Dotted around the grounds, all with views of the lake, are a series of circular two-story ‘rondavels’, which house the rooms.

DAY 3: Lake Manyara National Park – Serengeti

National Park After breakfast, there is a Game Drive in Lake Manyara National Park that returns to the lodge for lunch. Lake Manyara is a marvelous sight, once described by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest lake I had seen in Africa”. While the lake is mostly known for its tree-climbing lions and baboons, but it is also home to herbivores such as hippos, impalas, elephants, wildebeests, buffalo, warthogs, and giraffes. After lunch you leave Lake Manyara behind, the journey continues North West across the stunning hilly countryside of the Highlands, enjoy views of wheat and coffee plantations, and then into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From here lie the vast plains of the Serengeti, where you’ll start spotting game well before you get into the park.

DAY 4: Serengeti National Park today enjoys

early morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is one of the oldest and most beautiful ecosystems in Africa and is one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The park boasts more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson’s gazelle, and a quarter of a million zebra. Animals that you can also watch out for are – lions, leopards, elephants, rhino, hippo, giraffes, baboons, and wild dogs.

DAY 5: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro

Crater After breakfast you depart for Ngorongoro viewing game across the vast Serengeti plains, stopping off en route for a picnic lunch. You then continue your journey towards Ngorongoro where you visit a Masai Village before you continue to your lodge, arriving by late afternoon. The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is often cited as one of the eight wonders of the world. Your Lodge set high on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, its position on the Eastern rim allows the most spectacular and uninterrupted views of the sunset.

DAY 6: Ngorongoro Crater a highlight awaits

you this morning as you depart to explore what is commonly referred to as the World’s largest wildlife zoo. After breakfast, you descend with a picnic lunch through the early morning mists and 2,000 feet into the crater. Ngorongoro Crater is the World’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Due to its size and diversity, the crater floor is comprised of several distinct areas, ranging from forest, swamps, lakes, and springs, to open grassland and some sand dunes. It’s an awesome wildlife experience. Lunch is served near a small lake filled with hippos.
In the late afternoon, we make a short journey from Ngorongoro Crater to our special lodge.

DAY 7: From Karatu – Tarangire National Park

Departing Ngorongoro after breakfast, head southeast past Lake Manyara and Mto Wa Mbu village. Through the highlands and the Karatu district, you’ll view the scenic wheat plains and coffee plantations here before journeying down the spectacular escarpment where you turn south onto the main Arusha – Dodoma road and into the park. From here to the lodge, you’ll enjoy a game drive en-route. Surrounded by ancient baobab trees, the lodge has seventy-five spacious rooms with mosquito nets, ceiling fans, and a balcony, with a great view of the landscape beyond, where wildlife can sometimes be spotted. After lunch and perhaps a swim, enjoy an afternoon Game Drive, Tarangire is the home of the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa and other game including the elusive leopard. Over 400 bird species can be spotted here as well. With water constantly available in the area, the greenery is lush providing a wonderful contrast to the burnt ground.

DAY 8: Tarangire National Park– Marangu Kilimanjaro Village walks.

The morning after breakfast at the lodge, followed by en-route game drive we will stop in Arusha for hot lunch, shopping, and proceed with a short journey to Marangu Kilimanjaro.

DAY 9: Full Marangu Village Tour-

6 DAYS MARANGU ROUTE CLIMBING ITINERARY begins and ends at Kiliwonders Hotel in Moshi.
Arrive anytime at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), there will be a private transfer waiting at the airport to pick up you to Moshi at Kiliwonders Hotel.
All airport transfers are part of the package, no extra fee is required.

THE BEST MONTHS TO CLIMB KILIMANJARO.

Normally March, April, and May are the months with long rains and should be avoided.
November is usually short rains but it does not often rain all the days so Climbing is possible.
The best Months for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro are January, February, and also August and September.
July can be colder and November to December can be wet.
January to February is the warmest month, almost clear of clouds each evening and morning.
The success rates with our guides are outstanding compared to the overall success rates for all climbers who attempt to reach the top.

DAY 1: ARRIVE AT KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), Tanzania On Foot will arrange a private vehicle from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Moshi at Kiliwonders Hotel for overnight stay.
We will gather in the evening for a pre-climb briefing and an equipment check, we will also confirm you have the appropriate mandatory medical coverage and travel insurance.
We stay at Kiliwonders Hotel, which is a beautiful hotel located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and is a perfect place to prepare you for Kilimanjaro trekking adventure.
Dinner and overnight at Kiliwonders Hotel: Bed, Dinner and Breakfast included.

DAY 2: MARANGU GATE (1860m) to MANDARA HUT (2700m)

◊Habitat: Rain Forest
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included.
We depart Moshi for Marangu Gate for the necessary formalities before beginning our trek. The hiking trail begins by ascending a beautiful, tropical rain forest. At the upper edge of the forest line, we have the opportunity to see blue monkeys. The trail then widens to expose beautiful hillsides until we reach Mandara Hut.

DAY 3: MANDARA HUT (2700m) TO HOROMBO HUT (3700m)

◊Hiking Time: 6-8 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included.
We start the day continuing through the forest until the trail opens into high moorland. We may get our first views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks – two of the three volcanic peaks that make up the summit of Kilimanjaro.

DAY 4: ACCLIMATIZAON CLIMB TO ZEBRA ROCKS (4020m) THEN BACK TO HOROMBO HUT (3700m)

MAWENZI RIDGE TO HOROMBO HUT
◊Distance: 5 km/3 miles
◊Hiking Time: 1-2 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included.
This is an extra day meant for acclimatization and can be spent day hiking on Mawenzi Ridge. The unique landscape offers motivating views of Kibo and Mawenzi. After spending a few moments exploring the area we head back to Horombo Hut.

DAY 5: HOROMBO HUT (3700m) TO KIBO HUT (4700m)

◊Habitat: Alpine Desert
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included.
We climb gradually, then cross the lunar desert of the “Saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo. Our camp, Kibo Hut, sits at the bottom of the Kibo crater wall. Once here we rest, enjoy an early dinner to prepare for the summit day.

DAY 6: KIBO HUT (4700m) TO UHURU PEAK (5895m) AND DOWN TO HOROMBO HUT (3700m)

Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
◊Distance: 16 km/10 miles
◊Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
◊Habitat: Heath
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included.
Very early in the morning (around midnight), we begin our push to the summit. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. The wind and cold at this elevation and time of day can be extreme. We ascend in the darkness for several hours while taking frequent, but short, breaks. At Gilman’s point (18,600 ft), you will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see coming over Mawenzi Peak. Finally, we arrive at Uhuru Peak- the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa.
After spending a few moments taking in the plains of Africa and your accomplishment, we descend to Horombo Hut. Later in the evening, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.

DAY 7: HOROMBO HUT (3700m) TO MARANGU GATE (1860m)

◊Distance: 20 km/12 miles
◊Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
◊Habitat: Rain Forest
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included.
On our last day, we have a long trek mostly downhill through the tropical rainforest. Once at the park headquarters at Marangu gate, we collect our summit certificates. A vehicle will meet us here and drive us back to the hotel in Moshi.
Dinner and overnight at Kiliwonders Hotel: Bed, Dinner and Breakfast included.

DAY 8: DEPARTING DAY

After saying bye to our team of guides then you need a private departure transfer which is included from Moshi to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight unless you have an option to have a short safari or any other option we will discuss.

MARANGU ROUTE CLIMBING ITINERARY EXCLUDES:

• Flights and airport taxes
• Items of a personal nature
• Compulsory tips for guides, porters and cook (average tip is anything from US $ 230 to US $ 300 per hiker – depending on the number of days / how many hikers in the group and route chosen)
• South African passport holders do NOT require a visa for Tanzania, however, most other nationalities require a visa for Tanzania
• Health requirements (Yellow Fever compulsory if traveling to Tanzania recommended)
• Highly recommended travel and medical insurance.
• Personal hiking/trekking gear – we can rent some of the gear from our equipment store in Tanzania
• Optional but highly recommended Portable toilet
• Snacks, personal medicine, and water purifying tablets

SAFETY

Success is what we want during our trip. We are prepared for any urgent situation and also have in place a complete evacuation procedure in case of altitude sickness. We carry first aid supplies, supplement summit oxygen, and Pulse Oximeters).

TRAVEL INSURANCE

all customers traveling with Baobab Safaris are required to have fully comprehensive travel insurance.
The policy needs to be valid from the date that the initial order is placed so as to provide cover for a cancellation prior to departure.
During travel, the insurance needs to provide comprehensive medical, evacuation, and repatriation cover.
