What does Changing Worlds mean? Our PUREists embody travel as a powerful force for transformation 🪄 😍 Not just for individuals, but the regions and communities they’re inseparable from.

While every maverick gives back while leaping forward, here’s 6️⃣ especially great initiatives we’ve come across:

1️⃣ 🌍 Pelorus Foundation

Pelorus’ independent charity champions reef conservation, protected areas of forest and agriculture, and helps to strip carbon dioxide from the atmosphere with its Climate Investment Fund.

2️⃣ 🇵🇪 Sol y Luna Foundation

This organisation educates more than 160 students from remote Peruvian communities, with a dedicated centre for disabled students. Owner Petit Miribel has been living in the Sacred Valley since the ‘90s and remains committed to countering the effects of extreme poverty.

3️⃣ 🇿🇦 Singita Lowveld Trust

From the lowlands of Lowveld, Singita’s trust safeguards biodiversity, sustainability and community through a range of partnerships. The trust helps fund an anti-poaching canine unit, groundbreaking wildlife research, and support culinary and early childhood development centres.

4️⃣ 🌍 True Travel Foundation

Restoration, education, community empowerment — the three tenets of B-Corp True Travel’s specialised philanthropy group. From the Rucksack Project in Jaipur to working with the Newman Holiday Trust’s trips for children with additional needs in the UK, its influence can be felt around the world.

5️⃣ 🌍 Kensington Cares

Thanks to social impact projects across the world (but largely throughout Africa), Kensington Cares donates a percentage of travel brand Kensington Tours’ annual sales to educational and environmental initiatives. Over the years they’ve helped to fund two new schools in Kenya’s Masai Mara reserve.

6️⃣ 🇨🇷 Fundación Origen

Currently, nine members of Origen Extraordinary Escapes have grabbed their paddles to row 390 nautical miles along the Costa Rican coast 🚣 It’s all in an effort to raise awareness for their foundation, empowering young people with the training required to thrive in the country’s tourism sector.

Hats off to everyone who took part in our Community Project Hike this year! 🧢💙

Your blue caps were one more memento for our day in the Atlas Mountains, as we saw what has done to empower local villagers.

What’s in store for our Community Project in 2025? You’ll have to wait and see 👀 We’ll announce it in the New Year.

📍Get to Know: Andorra in the winter

Skiing already makes you feel on top of the world. How do you beat that? Arriving by helicopter 💁 🚁 Andorra is one of the best European destinations to touch down in skis from the skies.
We’ve scaled the heights of summer here. Now it’s winter’s turn ❄️ Slide through some options for planning a trip to Andorra in November to February . . .

Grandvalira is king for winter sports. The largest resort in the Pyrenees, and one of the biggest in Southern Europe, has been serving adrenaline rushes for almost 70 years. Technically, it used to be three resorts, but they merged and unleashed a beast. Today, Grandvalira consist of 140 slopes (18 of which are black) in four distinct regions ⛷️🚠🏂

Between the pines, you might spot ‘bordes’ — traditional storage centres for grain and cattle, many of which have been converted into restaurants. Trekking towards a windowsill candle is a welcome, cosy part of the Andorran experience 🕯️

Then, when you sit down to eat, the winter menus are unreal . . . We’re talking wild boar with red wine, grey knight mushrooms, and grilled meats with an aioli sauce. Lighter bites in the hillsides include wild dandelion garnish for salads and cheeses 😋

Talking of tongues — Andorra is the only country where Catalan is the national language!

The desert and the ocean don’t often meet 🥵🌊 But when they do, it’s glorious…

Feel the heat in Saudi Arabia, then cool off in style. The Red Sea is a study in blissful contrasts, where mountains and dunes flank some of the warmest waters in the world. It’s also the gateway to both Africa and the Middle East, inviting more exploration when you’ve hung up the scuba gear 🤿

Our friends at can prepare a dream itinerary for travellers with a Saudi soft spot:

⛰️ Tread the footsteps of ancient traders on 130 km of mountain trails. The stars are ice-white at night. The mornings are even better.

🪸 Dive in some of the most diverse coral reefs on Earth. The Red Sea has nine conservation zones, and 75% of its 90+ islands remain untouched.

🍽️ Desert dining is mouthwatering. Try grilled najel fish, chicken majboos and spiced meat platters, with a glass of wine as the sun drops.

⛵️ Find a blast of adrenaline on the water, as well as below. Canoeing, sailing, kitesurfing, paddle boarding and Efoiling are all favourites in The Red Sea.

Wish you were here? You could be. This table, this beach, these mavericks — all yours if you’re shortlisted for a PURE Award 🏆 😁

Our 2024 finalists were whisked off to for PURE’s Innovation Lab, where our leaders leapt into major industry topics on each award category. Here’s some of what we discussed:

1. Introducing guests to conservation specialists at the perfect time.
2. Shaping designs and product around nature in bold new ways.
3. Gauging the cost of cancellations — both literally and for time spent on planning.
4. Giving staff the time, space and platforms to tell their stories, too.

Between it all, we dined on plate after plate of gourmet spider crab 🦀 Donned wetsuits for paddle boarding 🌊 Clinked drinks stirred by genius 🍸 Took some fabulous walks on the bay as the sun rose and fell 😌

Each of our finalists left Innovation Lab with a weekend’s worth of magic, right before PURE began. They also took a lot of ideas and inspo home. Seriously, the WhatsApp chat is still going 💬

Getting to the final round of the PURE Awards allows you to connect with other mavericks in an unbelievable, intimate setting. Even if you don’t win, you gain something that may last a lifetime… so start thinking about your 2025 application, which will open next spring! 🙌
