Join us Jan 20-24th 2025 (5 days/ 4 nights) for our Toyama Sake Tour and eat the best Kan-buri (winter season Japanese yellowtail) - this migratory fish starts moving south from Hokkaido in the autumn/ fall for spawning near Kyushu and in the winter they are in their prime - due to the harsh conditions of the Sea of Japan these fish have a firm but fatty texture … buri is a prized delicacy and is a fish that is given different Japanese names according to the stages of growth (eg. Tsubasa, Hamachi in Kansai or Inada and Watasa in Kanto) . A 10kg+ fish from a certain region can fetch upwards of a thousand dollars at market during peak season - saketours.com

SAKE TOURS - ABOUT US

Unforgettable. Immersive. Delicious.

At Sake Tours, we take you behind the scenes to meet the people who grow, cook, brew, and create the incomparable food, sake, and traditional arts and crafts of Japan.

You’ll tour sake breweries, talk with master brewers, and most importantly, taste—a lot. But that’s only part of the experience. Depending on the tour you choose, you might find yourself trying your hand at making soba or washi paper, embarking on a ramen crawl through Hakata, Kyushu (ground zero for the worldwide ramen boom), digging into a plate of fugu (blowfish) sashimi, visiting a pottery kiln, or witnessing up close how katsuobushi, (those dancing sheets of dried, fermented fish on top of okonomiyaki) is made.

Expect impeccably sourced restaurant dinners, hard-to-find sake, and authentic, under-the-radar cultural experiences that make Sake Tours the most non-touristic “tours” you’ll ever experience. Come find out why so many Sake Tours customers return to explore different parts of Japan with us!
