Stubbs Island Charters Ltd is taking Telegraph Cove Resorts Ltd, Inter Island Launch Ltd. dba Prince of Whales Whale Watching and Alan McGillivray, owner of Prince of Whales, to court over losses suffered due to breach of a lease agreement and a non-disclosure contract.
After 38 years in business in Telegraph Cove, Stubbs Island Whale Watching was notified that the lease was terminated by Gordie Graham of Telegraph Cove Resorts with only 30 days’ notice.
We had been marketing and making plans for our continued operation out of our offices on the boardwalk in Telegraph Cove and were shocked to be informed of the termination. As owners of the business for the past eight seasons, we had been making every effort to bring guests to the Cove for an experience of a lifetime. We were very successful as proven by our six consecutive annual Awards of Excellence from Trip Advisor.
Financially the company was making large annual investments in the marketing of Stubbs Island Charters and Telegraph Cove. We had already spent tens of thousands of dollars of advertising and marketing for the 2019 season and had confirmation of many of our regular commitments for bookings in the upcoming season.
The way that we were kicked out of the premises has left us with no option but to take legal action for the extensive financial losses we have suffered.

No court date is set at this time.

An emotional day for the Stubbs Island team as the MV Lukwa set sail in the sunshine today from for her new home port on the West Coast. And yes Capt. Wayne Garton was on the dock to see her off.

Safe passage, calm seas and memorable wildlife sightings to all who sail on her.
