When we became the new carers for Poacher's Cottage, the bathroom posed rather a problem. A boiler cupboard above took away a great deal of height from the ceiling and, try as we might, we couldn't find a way of incorporating the rainfall shower I was determined to install.

My talented friend visited and took no time in re-imagining the space - take out the cupboard upstairs and make a feature of that wonderful vaulted ceiling! Some people don't see barriers, they instinctively see opportunities. To them, everything has potential. What a wonderful way to be!

I'm so grateful for her advice - the ceiling has worked beautifully and I LOVE my rainfall shower. Her other advice, was to not stint on the quality of the bath so, after a deep breath, Hurlingham The Bath Company cast iron it is!

My friend Naomi Davies Art created the beautiful picture we use as our profile pic. It's in her inimitable style and I love it. A wonderful gift. But she drew it from a photo she'd seen and the little tree in the front was drawn in, entirely from her imagination.

Every time I looked at the cottage something was amiss. It took me weeks to realise what it was.

Voilà. The little tree.

Welcome to my little timber framed C18th cottage! My home away from home. It's diminutive but has everything one could ever need with room for one or two plus a furry friend. It's located at the edge of historic Halesworth conservation area - in fact the conservation area was recently extended to include Poacher's Cottage and its two neighbours to ensure their charm would be preserved for generations to come.

Having spent the past year reworking and refitting the space, I am now able to share the cottage as a holiday let.

Let the summer commence!!
