Things to take note before joining meditation tour with us

• Kindly keep in mind that Pilgrimage Tour is not merely a sightseeing trip, but more intense than a normal tour. The intention of this trip is not to see the exotic sites, buy souvenirs, talk with the locals, take photographs and see the nature, but is to appreciate Burmese Buddhism culture.
• The vital thing is to listen to the Dhamma, or the Buddha’s teachings and live according to the Buddha’s nirvana direction. In the morning, you have to wake up in the morning at 4am to start your meditation or listen to monk’s for Buddha’s teachings and end at 7.30pm.
• Breakfast and lunch are allowed, yet mental preparation for daily food intake should be prepared ahead as only water and diluted fresh strained fruit juice are allowed after midday. You are not allowed to have any solid food, boiled food and concentrated drink after midday.
• If you are taking this package, you are only allowed to stay at Pa-Auk Forest Monastery during meditation unless otherwise stated. Public use mat, mosquito nets, pillows and blankets are provided. If you prefer to use your private one, you can bring them on your own as well.
• There are only three basic rules of conduct at Pa-Auk Forest Monastery, ie to act properly at all times, show respect and consider for one another. As the Buddha encouraged his followers to discover to his teaching, let us live “in concord, with mutual appreciation, without disputing, treating each other with kindness”.

If you would like to join the meditation tour with us, please don't hesitate to contact us.

The reasons why the 4 Buddha Images in Manuha Temple were built so closely to the temple itself

=================================

Manuha temple, located in Bagan, is considered as one of the oldest temples. The temple itself enshrines four big Buddha statues.

The history of this temple was dated back the reign of King Manuha, the King of Mon State.

Since the Bagan King, Anawrahta wanted to bloom the Buddhism further, he requested King Manuha to have a copy of Tripitaka, defined as Buddhism teaching. Yet, King Manuha rejected and King Anawrahta invaded Thaton in 1057.

Together with King Manuha, thousands of Mon artisans and craftsmen were arrested and taken back to Bagan.

After 10 years in captivity, Manuha realized that he wanted to attain Nirvana. By then, he requested King Anawrahta to build a temple. The key intention for building a temple was to gain much religious merit, so that in the coming cycle of rebirths, he would never be conquered by enemies and caught to live in captivity again. By doing so, he believed he would attain Nirvana one day.

King Anawrahta approved. However, Manuha did not have a penny to build the temple. As such, he sold his precious jewel for six cart loads of fine silvers.

The construction was started by building the four Buddha images, in which Buddha's relics were enshrined. Once the fourth Buddha's image was completed, he started to build the temple around them. However, it looked so unbreathable and tight to contain four Buddha's images.

Thus, it is believed that Manuha used this temple to express his feelings about his captivity.

Padaung girls at Loikaw are earning their pocket money during school holidays. We should educate them more with normal academic schools and change their mind that education is important. After we take their photo, they will ask for "photography" fee. For me, I took two photos and give them 1,500ks.
