Fundamentals over fad.” - alphamindset05 A lot of our students ask for a “pro tip”, a “secret” to get them farther. Here’s one: Get out and drive! See your little part of the world. You don’t need the biggest tire, you don’t need the latest piece of recovery gear or truck mod; instead, you just need the will to challenge yourself a little bit and the maturity to temper that will with reason and common sense.

📷 Try the ‘log cabin’ method for building a fire. Start with two parallel logs, then place two more across them in the opposite direction. Continue stacking, making each layer smaller and forming a pyramid shape. Place your fire starter and kindling in the middle, using enough kindling to ignite the fire without blocking airflow.

📷 Run what ya’ brung! Heard at many’a local drag strips - it’s a call to drive what you have now, not what you WANT to have or build. Becoming a better driver isn’t a pursuit of driver aids, or truck modifications; rather, it’s about learning to drive the truck at its most basic. The best drivers got that way by mastering the basics: basic controls and basic dynamics devoid of lockers and crazy articulation, and big tires. Learn to run what’ya brung!

📷 You know those commercials showing the new “Your Name Here” rolling through a puddle, stream, or ford at ludicrous speed creating the “hero-splash”? Yeah…don’t do that. Not sure how it became fashionable to show a driver what NOT to do on national TV but we live in interesting times. Forcing mud, silt, debris, and water - at pressure - through your radiator(s), condenser, then into your engine bay where it finds its way into aaaall kinds of nooks and crannies is about as dumb as it gets! If you’re shooting a commercial and you’re driving someone else’s truck with a production crew, craft services table, and haul vehicle then what the hell right? Crossing or fording any kind of water ain’t about speed and it certainly isn’t about “the splash”.

📷 “There is perhaps nothing more injurious and detrimental to your truck’s brakes, drivetrain, frame, and body than mud! With a fleet of over 20 trucks, it takes a big chunk out of our maintenance budget. It’s nature’s rubbing compound on rotors and pads, it loves to hold moisture in all the nooks and crannies of your frame and bodywork, and it’s a great way to spend the drive home in something akin to a paint shaker as it defeats the purpose of your wheel weights. Mud loves finding its way into transmission linkage and suspension and steering joints; and oooh the “wonderful” things it does to a winch! If you can, avoid it, if you have to drive through it do so prepared with a forethought for recovery. Don’t spend an hour trying to fight your way through mud. And for the love of all thing holy and good in this world - when you get home clean your truck thoroughly!”

A winch is a valuable and important recovery tool. Not everyone has one, not every situation calls for winching from the front of a vehicle. are a versatile option for winching when an electric winch isn’t available or when pulling from the side or behind is the best option.

If you’ve ever bought a new Hi-Lift® Jack, you’ve probably noticed “rub marks” on the front of the Upright Steel Bar. These rubs or scrapes aren’t manufacturing mistakes or finish defects. In fact, they are referred to as “Testing Scars”, and these scars are a purposeful part of the manufacturing and testing process.
Prior to each Hi-Lift® Jack leaving the facility, they are tested twice to ensure quality, load capacity, and functionality. At the end of the Hi-Lift® Jack assembly process, every Jack is tested to ensure it will support its rated load capacity of 4,660 lbs. Every Hi-Lift® is then moved to a testing machine where each Jack is lubricated and lifts and lowers a 750 lb. load. It’s at this point in the testing process that every Hi-Lift® Jack earns its “Testing Scars”. These scars are proof to customers that they care enough to make sure that every Hi-Lift® that leaves the facility is a quality tool that is dependable and reliable.
