We have a booth at this year's Fall Ferret Frolic in Coatesville, PA. The date is September 9. We've been sitting on a bunch of new stuff since the spring, but between Art's job and my lung transplant, we haven't had much free time to keep up with requests, so we've been napping. But the forge is firing back up, and we'll be previewing our new birthstone line, some new treat beggars (pictured is a sparkling emerald), a sampling of our new sleepy sack design, and some other surprises. Like a ferret, we nap a lot, but when we're awake, we're jumping all over the joint!

Also in the spirit of "Giving Tuesday," check out this amazing blanket made and given to us by my old college roommate, Meg Yarnell McCracken! It's really a sight to behold, and it's super-cozy. Meg was always intensely creative, and given that she started making this while I was recovering from a lung transplant, she's also a most kind and generous soul. But this blanket puts us in an uncomfortable position that forces us to be selfish... see, it's so soft and velvety on the underside that our ferrets IMMEDIATELY tried to lay claim to the blanket. They're not responsible enough to be trusted not to ruin such a lovely creation. Love 'ya, Meg!

I'm sure everyone is as overwhelmed by charities to donate to as we are on this Giving Tuesday. In addition to the zillion humanitarian causes that are vital to human existence (you're all registered to be organ donors, right?), there are hundreds of worthwhile ferret shelters and organizations that could use help. There's also the annual Ferret Giving Tree, and we think it's a great way to give a little something to a little fuzzy someone who could use a nice day. It's easy to donate, and you can splurge and cover a vet bill, or you can go small and gift some treats and toys. This year we're Santa-ing a furball named Chuck Norris (not the first ferret we've encountered with that name, btw). He's in Maine, and we had a lovely visit to Maine this year that wasn't marred by the theft of any ferret jewelry. (Yeah, I'm still looking at you, Orlando!) Gee, I hate to be a shameless tease, but Art just finished what I think is the single most beautiful piece of ferret jewelry yet, and I can't quite keep it to myself. We'll be shooting photos soon, but at the moment, we're just staring at it like it's a Ferret Horcrux of immeasurable magical power. It's elegant, adorable, and has natural precious gems of every color. It's a design Art has been wanting to make for a while, so we don't even know what to charge for it yet, or if we can make more than one per year. I'm more than a little jealous, because IT'S NOT FOR ME! :-( We'll have the new "Royal Schnitzel Collection" available later this week, which includes several completely new, limited items. Well, the gold piece may be stolen and gone forever, but at least we took lots and lots of photos. Also, I should mention for everyone's safety that Art has officially placed a curse on that gold necklace... whoever steals it will develop severe adrenal disease that doesn't respond to chip implants, as well as insulinoma. Their butt will be chronically itchy as well. So if you're a ferret lover and happen to see this in an Orlando pawn shop, either contact the authorities or drop us a line. We'll do what we can to repay your kindness, and your butt will be spared from maddening itchiness.

We're still in a state of disbelief that the golden ferret pendant was stolen within hours of arriving in Orlando. But we're trying to find a silver ferrety lining somewhere, and we did! Weasels at Orlando's Skeleton Museum.

The gold piece is no longer for sale... because it was stolen. Art is in Orlando for a conference this week, and we brought the piece with us to ship. We checked into this Fairfield Inn (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/mcowf-fairfield-inn-and-suites-orlando-international-drive-convention-center/) at 3, left for dinner at Disney at 4, and when we returned at 10, our computers were stolen, the gold piece was gone, and basically any item not on us or in our car was stolen. So if you're in the Orlando area and you spot the Gold Ferret anywhere, call the police.

We hope everyone is having a lovely spring weekend! And we hope this special order made someone happy this weekend, because *we* really liked it! It's the first piece we've ever made that had both of *our* birthstones (sapphire and moonstone). We even reached into our secret stash of "magic" (opalescent, not white) moonstones to complement the AA-grade sapphire facet! Also, we have a few outstanding orders that have been slow-going because Art's had his hands full helping me recover from pneumonia. So if something is late, it's my fault. (sorry.) We should have everything out within the next few days, and then we'll restock all the sold-out pieces again.

This is the full-page Ferret Forge ad running in this weekend's Spring Nationals ferret show and competition catalog, which is Saturday in Virginia (preceded by a dinner banquet on Friday). We won't be able to make it to Nationals, but we like to support the shows when we can because we think they're a vital source of information for ferret owners. We attended ferret shows before we made ferret jewelry, and the shows with lots of vendors like Buckeye and the Nationals are as fun as ComicCon! Except, with ferrets!
