There are many places to eat in Baler and we have a new favorite. The Circle Hostel, Baler is now serving food! If you are staying at the hostel then you don't need to go far to get some grub (especially after surfing). And if you are looking for something different from the usual then the menu should whet your appetite.

We stayed at the Circle last weekend and after a rainy morning surf we got to try what's on the menu. The Tofu Sisig and Chicken Oriental Pasta (tastes like Charlie Chan) was amazing. They also have Dynamite Sticks that go hand in hand with cold beer. Yes.

Read captions on the photos. Congrats to Eats @ The Circle. They are working on the menu but what they have is already solid. We haven't tried the Liempo but you know that's destiny.

Lokalsoul is a proud member of the Manila Surfers Association. The new officers are looking to continue to welcome new surfers and help the local community. Best wishes to the association!

Come join us on March 1, Wednesday as we welcome a new set of MSA officers to lead the organization. It is also a good time to catch up with members past and present. Have dinner at Locavore Kitchen & Drinks and enjoy live music by Inky De Dios. Gathering starts at 8pm.

Spent the last days of 2016 and welcomed the New Year in Palawan. We were just happy to go on a holiday in such a beautiful place. It was our first time here. Knowing there was a bit of surf, catching a few waves will be so amazing. We got in touch with the crew of Surf El Nido and little did we know they'll be taking us on an adventure of a lifetime.

Riding motorcycles going up North, we crossed uphill and downhill rough roads to get to a dreamy beach. We could've just surfed the beach break but the locals insisted we explore just a bit further. Glad we did. Here is a break in front of a cove and it was firing from waist to head high glassy rights. It was actually barreling the day before the locals said. But it was just perfect for us this day. The thrill of surfing in a new spot in one of the most beautiful places on Earth is already overwhelming. The moment we were gliding on these waves we were just struck with ecstasy!

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Mike Hular, the guy who spearheads surfing in El Nido. He took care of us and treated us as friends. Happy to have met the easy and fun loving crew of Surf El Nido Dexter, Juanjo the Spaniard, Felix Kalabaw, Flo and the other surfers we met. To our fellow travellers Chris, Geb and Nathan, we had an epic trip with you guys and hope our paths cross again.

Truth cannot remain hidden and the simple truth is that there is good surf in Palawan. It's only a matter of timing when to go. If you want to know where, just ask the locals. Waves exist for us to enjoy and nature asks of us to be respectful and mindful of our activities. Surfing is truly, truly special. Nothing but best wishes for the surfing community not just here, but everywhere in the Philippines.

A surfer once said that waves are toys from God. It certainly is a life filling gift given free to everyone. Grateful for being able to surf and for being able to share these gifts. We're turning 7 next year. Thank you for still following us.

We had a great Christmas break in La Union bonding with the breaks and with our friends. Thank you LU . He's a photo of a break we recently just fell in love with.

Spending New Year's in El Nido, Palawan. We heard waves are good this time. Hoping to catch a few. Will be posting photos for sure. Happy New Year everyone!

Origin: Hindu/Indian. The meaning of the name Sarika is 'A thing of beauty; Nature'.

It was also the name of the typhoon that hit us over the weekend. But just before it did we went for a different path to see what kind of energy this will bring to the coast. Over hills and winding roads, we sure did find out. Here are a few photos.

Surfers get excited about storms because of the swell it brings. However, we're not too stoked about the hazard. Let's call it premeditated risk. And when things get serious, expect us to be well on our way home.

Another storm coming, hoping for everyone's safety. Love the Sarika, live the Sarika, share the Sarika, respect the Sarika.
