‘Bombs ,Burials and Fantastic Beasts’ walk in and around Leadenhall Market for the City of London Guides. Lovely group but you could not even get into Leadenhall for the crowds of people - the streets were so packed all around too so no pavements to walk on. Challenging and noisy surroundings - but my fabulous group stayed with me and seemed to have a fun and spooky time!

Took this lovely group of finance and business lecturers from Westminster University on a history of finance tour in City of London. Was worried they would know far more than me but they loved it - especially the coffee shops - and their rich and varied history. They loved hearing the wording of the first advert for coffee written in 1652 - it was an ‘excellent remedy for ‘hypochondria and Wind’!

Took this group of sixth formers studying Business and Economics on a history of London Finance tour. All our main financial institutions started off as humble coffee shops. Come and hear about the stockbrokers who were so badly behaved that they were expelled from the Royal Exchange, the auctions at Garraways and Lloyds of London.

Lovely Roman London walk today for two sisters, one of whom is blind (the terminology she used) and so it had to be a very different walk at a completely different pace. You have to be very descriptive on a Roman walk anyway and a picture of life in Roman as so much of it is now 26 feet below our current payment level. I made up some oils from Roman recipes that I found so that they could smell the scents and imagine being in a Roman bath. They liked the smell of Julius Caesar (he used a mixture which included fenugreek and Marjoram). The general consensus was that he would’ve smelt of spicy vanilla with an undertone of curry!
