New feed site established in last year’s turnips, using the Flip N Drip from Bonemaker Deer Minerals to ensure the deer in our area have access to high quality mineral all throughout the growing season. As an added bonus, Bonemaker contains a deworming agent to help keep your deer healthy and happy! Can’t wait to share some velvet pics later in summer as we see our guys start to pack on some mass! A quick time lapse of a solid days work - expanding the existing 1/2 acre plot that BowhunTV planted in Antler King Honey Hole last summer. This year the plot will be expanded to 1 acre and be planted in Antler King’s Perennial Clover. Also planting a visual barrier of Egyptian Wheat to shield our entrance and exit from the stand locations surrounding the site.

My favorite spot on BowhunTV’s new whitetail property - this little corner has it all. If you look closely, you can see a mock scrape that has been established in the foreground of the picture, hanging from an old white oak. The deer have hit this scrape hard, as well as browsing the hundreds of sweet acorns that the oak has dropped all along the edge of our new Honey Hole food plot. The deer have found the plot quickly, but are not browsing the bitter foliage yet (love it when a good plan comes together). With so much in our favor at this particular site, I have to think BowhunTV is going to make it happen right here this year...

BowhunTV staff has been hard at work this summer expanding our territory and planning our approach for whitetail deer season in southern Ohio. Late August rains provided the perfect opportunity to get some seed in the ground and create our first 1/2 acre food plot on a new property we are hunting this year. We chose to plant Antler King’s Honey Hole, a blend of turnips and rape...the plan is to stay away and allow this plot to mature and use it as a kill plot after the first couple frosts of the year. You can see some pictures here of the area during the glyphosate treatment to kill existing vegetation, the tilling process, the germination of some turnips, and the progress at 1, 2, and 3 weeks. We are extremely happy with our germination rate, and think this plot will provide a solid food source to the deer in the area when the row crops have been harvested and native browse begins to die off for the winter. We have installed a great set overlooking this plot, with room for a shooter and a cameraman, so we plan to document the journey every step of the way. We also plan to keep checking cameras at this plot and around this new property as the season progresses so we will update with any critters we find exploring our new property...
