Well hello all you fine folks! Hope you had a very happy Thanksgiving! Here in Unionville, Maine, things were quite hectic with all the traffic and of course the Unionville Thanksgiving Day Spectacular Fantastical Parade — it’s even better than Macy’s Parade in NYC, if you ask us. The one road through the village was packed with cheer and deer as the local turkeys (no, not people, but actual, literal turkeys, we mean) made their way down the street in full swing, and the squirrel that lives under the porch was real excited when the biggest parade feature - a moose - waltzed his way down the road. Local traffic was brought to a standstill at that time, backed up all the way to my driveway due to the deer crossing back and forth. That meant a delay of two whole minutes in gridlock, from the gravel road to the logging road just on the otherside of the bend. Confetti - or maybe it was spitting snow - was thrown from the treetops in anticipation that Santa would soon be driving down the road in his red truck; it was none other than Famous Fred himself who brought holiday cheer to all those assembled for the parade, tossing out hand carved toys and tools, paddles and presents to all those present. With his white beard and jolly cheeks, and full of cheer, Santa Fred very happy thanksgiving before turning his Christmas lights on that have been up all year.
Because, the important thing is this: family, friends, attitudes of gratitude, and counting your blessings. All that other stuff is impressive, and fun, and makes for quite a show, but at the end of the day this you should know, that from our family to yours and those near and far, may you always be happy, healthy, and wise, so that Santa Fred may come this holiday with a surprise.
