The five most beautiful cathedrals in Europe bult between 1850 and 1950? Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is well known. Westminster Cathedral in London and Sacre-Coeur in Paris as well. Have you heard of the art-deco masterpiece Basilic of Koekelberg in Brussels? You did? Well done!
But I bet you have never ever heard of number 5. The domed Cathedral Basilica St. Bavo in Haarlem, the Netherlands. A stunning piece of architecture, just 20 kilometers west from the Dutch(y) capital Amsterdam. Recently fully restored and it has become simply magnificent. Visitors are more than welcome to climb the 275 stairs to the dome, but do not stand too close to the enormous bells on hours or half-hours.......eardeafening.

Waldorf hotel in London, part of the Hilton group, is undergoing a massive renovation. But it's still open for guests.
Located I'm the middle of theatre district, this is an very good address when you want to visit one of the many musicals, while Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden are within walking distance.
