“All journeys do not end well.
Genocide, slavery, colonialism, and consumerism. These are also acts of the imagination. We celebrate what we have acquired and call them spices, precious metals and gems, slaves, and other bargains and steals.”

An art critique essay by Monique Truong: “All journeys are composite acts of the imagination. Our traveling companions are myths, fantasies, History as we have learned it, and other compe…

This white dude really went to great lengths to be denied boarding and see how far his white privilege will get him. It went pretty far though, just not to Lao on this particular airline.

A man once dubbed the "most hated German in Thailand" was denied boarding a Thai Airways flight on Tuesday after being blacklisted by Thai immigration.

I recently flew on United with both kiddos, and aside from the reliably terrible service where they took an hour to bring water for the kids, nothing like this has occurred yet. I hope she sues United because their response is pretty feeble https://nextshark.com/shirley-yamauchi-united-forces-toddler-out-of-seat-on-overbooked-flight/

Has United Airlines learned nothing? According to Hawaii News Now, a teacher from Hawaii was forced to hold her toddler throughout the entirety of their three and a half hour flight even though she had purchased a ticket for him. The reason? United Airlines had given away his ticket to a standby pas...

We are usually traditionalists when it comes to Indian food or pizza, but fusing both of these things has got our curry-osity radar up (the pun had to be used). Our City slicker Kiddos are especially particular about Indian food and pizza. Our annual visit to Fresno, California in July is now centered on eating everything at The Curry Pizza Company. Watch out! https://www.google.com/amp/abc30.com/amp/food/new-fusion-pizza-taking-over-fresno/2099805/

It is all in the sauce-- or the curry sauce that is, at curry pizza company in Northwest Fresno.

Sad to hear of Norma's passing, but such a courageous decision to just hit the road.

"We found ourselves sitting in an OB/GYN office talking about treatment options," a post read. "You know the drill: surgery, then radiation and chemo in some order. When the doctor was finished he asked her how she would like to proceed. "I'm 90-years-old, I'm hitting the road." Driving Miss Norma

An American woman who decided to take a road trip across the United States instead of undergoing cancer treatment has died at the age of 91.  Norma Jean Bauerschmidt’s travels have been followed by more than 400,000 people on the page "Driving Miss Norma", which posted pictures and accounts...

No need for dramatic names: Hawai Adda, to the point. As long as they're not serving 1000 rupee dhokla we'll give it a try. After we eat bread pakoras off the street vendors in Ludhiana and wash it down with some fresh nimbu pani. A visit to India is calling to our bellies.

Navdeep Singh Dhillon's latest post for Quiet Revolution on the beauty of life in the slow lane:

"We both have many relatives in India, and those relatives had strong opinions on our travel itinerary. After spending a few nights on a houseboat in Kerala that ended up being much noisier and more sociable than we’d thought it would be (it was fun, we just needed a break!), we made a decision that is now seen as infamously unfathomable to most of those relatives. We opted out of going on a very short train ride from our houseboat to Kanyakumari, a place rooted in history and Hindu mythology, whose features include the ability to take iconic photos of sunrise and sunset on the beach. The “must-see” factor of Kanyakumari can’t be overstated. But it also sounded that the beach would be crowded with people trying to get their perfect photos. So, our collective response was: “Nah, maybe next time.” That was 10 years ago. We are still questioned by aunts and uncles on our decision-making process."

Many years ago when it was just the two of us roaming through India, Sona celebrated her birthday on the streets of Amritsar hunting for cake! Even though a jalebi with a candle would probably have worked too . . . maybe not.

Sona’s Birthday Adventure in India! September 23, 2013 by Navdeep 1 Comment One year, me and my dad forgot about my Mum’s birthday.
