On April 14, 2013, in honor of Persian Parade’s 10th year anniversary, Shurka Bazaar will transform Madison Avenue, alongside Madison Square Park, into an urban oasis. A fantastical experience of being transported to a destination through a cultural immersion, vivid as a memory and true to the imagination, yet far from anything one has ever experienced. The event is free to the general public and

is being held on Sunday, April 14, from 12:00pm – 5:00pm on Madison Avenue between 25th and 26th Street. Shurka Bazaar will attract a widely diverse audience that are global-minded and culture seeking consumers. We anticipate over 140,000 visitors. My friend and author of two cookbooks, Lucid Food" and "The New Persian Kitchen"" is hosting a weekly Monday night Pop-Up Restaurant in East Village's extra bar at Porsena. The menu changes each week, serving a selection of Iranian street-food that chef Louisa Shafia tasted during a month trip in Iran. I ate there this week and the food was incredible. I highly recommend it.

On Monday nights this fall, you won't find pasta at Sara Jenkins' beloved Porsena Extra Bar in the East Village. Instead, one of our favorite chefs and cookbook authors, Louisa Shafia of The New Persian Kitchen, has launched a weekly Persian pop-up called Lakh Lakh, inspired by her travels to Iran.
