On this last day of my mini-vacation, I learned the power of a well thought out plan. Disney is not for the faint of heart and I never recommend “winging it” if you have not been before. I have been blessed with the ability to visit way too many times and have planning my days down to a knack. It is always a good idea to have a slightly loose schedule as mechanical issues can and will occur (often more times and at more attractions than we would like). I knew that I would have a short day (my shuttle picks me up from the hotel at 6pm) so I chose Animal Kingdom to finish her out. This park, unfortunately, has the bad reputation of being a “half-day” park. This worked perfectly for my needs as I utilized early park hours and was finished with everything I wanted to do (including Pandora) by 1pm. The key (which I have learned from countless years of visits and as an former Cast Member) is to isolate the busiest attractions and knock those out during that Early Morning Time that you gain by staying on property. Yes, it costs more to stay at a Disney Hotel but the extra benefits are definitely worth it. This gave me plenty of time to relax and partake in the new thing of the day. Unfortunately, there have been no new attractions since the last time I was here, meaning no opportunities for new things. I went in a different direction and tried out Nomad Lounge at Tiffins for something different. It was still outdoor so still a little sticky in the 96 degree heat but it is shaded with fans blowing gentle breezes and located right next to the river where Character Barges make sporadic appearances.

Today, we practiced a different type of Disney Vacation Travel… listening to our body and slowing down when it says to. Today was not a park open to park close day. I had some work I needed to take care of this morning so I woke up early to take care of that and hop in the Virtual Queue for Tron: Lightcycle Run and then got ready at my leisure. I had no plans before an 11:30 am Dining Reservation at Jungle Skipper Canteen (fabulous by the way and a must just for the novelty of having an adult beverage in Magic Kingdom especially the special beer specifically crafted for this restaurant Kungaloosh!) Now, this does not mean it wasn’t still a full day but I took it leisurely and didn’t try to do everything in the park and focused on my musts with the mindset that everything else will be bonus. Tron is so much fun and so smooth. And no trip to MK is complete without experiencing my two favorite rides. We almost missed out on one due to one of the pesky 999 ghosts that inhabit the building but my tenacity would not let that happen. A very different but still very fulfilling Disney Day!

This! This right here was the reason for the trip to Epcot today. It was yet another sweltering day (95 degrees with 70% humidity) but I put in yet another park open to park close to make sure that I experience everything I can to maintain my product knowledge for my clients. I also try to make sure I experience at least one new thing each day of a trip. That is becoming increasingly more difficult as Disney is one of my favorite places and I go entirely way too often. However, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was definitely an interesting concept. Even with preemptive motion sickness meds, I can still say that I definitely felt it. Definitely worth a trip though to experience.

If you guessed that I am at my favorite place on Earth (Disney World!!!), you are correct. Today I spent the whole day melting my face off, literally. High of 94 degrees and not many clouds in sight. But I made it from park open to park close (once I watch my favorite nighttime show of course). Currently in line for Fantasmic, then it’s just a skip over to tonight’s accommodations. Let’s hope that they let me check out in the morning!?!? Just kidding! I did eat at Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Toy Story Land and seriously… so much food!

Survey says … 6 months was too long between my last two trips. Spontaneous trip booked last week and I officially started the trip yesterday. Can anyone guess where in the world I am based on some very cryptic pictures?

Although I have been home since Sunday, I wanted to give an update on the remainder of my trip home. Saturday Morning, I was able to tour High Point, Mr. Hershey’s “Modest Mansion”. A truly beautiful home that is seemingly simple and opulent at the same time. Throughout my time in Hershey, I was constantly reminded of this man’s humble approach to life. He was a multi-millionaire in his time (equivalent to being a multi-billionaire today), and he chose to live in a beautiful 4-bedroom home within close view of both his factory and the town he built instead of a giant castle far removed from his workers. He gave away his entire fortune twice in his life to endow a school for underprivileged children which is still changing lives to this day. After soaking in all the benevolence of this Chocolate King, I stopped on the way home to visit the weekend home of another giant of industry in the early 20th Century. Fallingwater in the Laurel Highlands is a sight to behold. A Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece, this home is truly stunning with some of its features. Recently listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List with some of Mr. Wrights other properties, this is one not to miss. The drive to this property is absolutely stunning as well.

My post from a few days ago was not accepted and then it has been a busy two days of traveling. Hershey was sweeter than ever for my last two full days. Thursday was spent fully immersing myself in the local life of Hershey. I love supporting other small businesses and spent that day touring the Hershey Museum and then supporting as many small businesses as my wallet would allow. Tröegs Brewing was fantastic! I got a private tour and even caught a glimpse of one of the owners. Friday Morning before a scorcher of a day (high of 94 degrees and not a cloud in the sky), I visited Hershey’s Chocolate World and participated in their complimentary factory tour before exploring a few of their paid attractions. As the largest Hershey’s store in the world, I would have loved to bring some rare chocolate home… however, chocolate and sweltering sunny weather do not mix no matter how many precautions you take and a handful of chocolate ending up in the rubbish bin because it melted into a gooey mess! Note to self… go at a colder time if you want to bring back rare chocolate to anywhere that requires a decent drive!

Greetings from “The Sweetest Place on Earth” or “The Town that Chocolate Built”! Whichever catchphrase which tickles your fancy does fit the bill for this community. Yesterday, I went to HersheyPark! This location is perfect for anyone who is a thrill ju**ie. With 15 coasters (and no shows), this park is not for the Theme Park goer who likes slow moving rides that immerse you in the story (like myself). If you love Cedar Point and Kings Island, this park is for you!

Even on a rest/travel day, I don’t slow down and strive to get the most out of any trip. 13,405 steps yesterday! However, I did continue the Revolutionary War trail and visited Valley Forge on the way to the next stop. Breathtaking vistas and the park staff goes above and beyond to reinvigorate this vast parkland which was completely stripped of all trees in the time of Washington. My hotel for the Philly portion was absolutely fantastic! 30th Floor views and as mentioned 1 block from City Hall in City Center. This hotel is perfect for anyone looking to explore the whole city. There are other hotels more convenient for the Historic Old City attractions. But I would definitely stay here again. Stay tuned for the next stop on the journey… The Sweetest Place on Earth!

That’s a wrap on the Philadelphia portion of this grand tour of Pennsylvania! Yesterday’s step count ended up being 17120 (and that was with taking the Philly Phlash bus between absolutely every place that I wanted to go). One thing that I learned is to have a loose plan of what you want to see, do the research on opening days and times, and prepare to be flexible in those plans. I pre-planned one walking tour, my Independence Hall entry time (available up to 4 months in advance), and bought the GoCard which offers entry to up to 39 different attractions. Had a very loose idea of what I wanted to see but neglected to research those opening dates and times. Especially with the Memorial Day holiday! I was able to see everything I wanted (and a whole bunch more) but a few days were rather hectic with fitting in all the things. Additionally, I’ve had to tack one location onto this day where I thought I would be heading straight out of town and onto the next stop. As suspected, the US Mint is closed on federal holidays. I could have switched some of my Saturday plans to visit then. But flexibility is key and off to the Mint this morning I go!

If you didn’t guess or see the answer to my previous post, I’ve been in Philadelphia this weekend expanding my knowledge of larger U.S. Cities. As a country girl who moved to two different larger cities which rely heavily on vehicles for movement, I decided to delve into Philly without the use of my car. Yep… left the car with Valet and have been hoofing if from my hotel a block away from City Hall for the duration. I did use the always popular Hop-On Hop-Off Tour Bus one day to get to some farther sites and will be using the “Phlash” Bus today to get around to some of those distant locations. But “The Birthplace of the United States” is definitely a walking city (They even have strategically place maps on road signs to orient you to where you are and where you are walking to). Step counts so far? Friday night arrived and checked in at 5pm: 7,619 steps. Saturday with heavy use of the HoHo Bus : 17322 steps. Sunday with 2 different walking tours : 26243 steps. Today is another day of tons of walking… my feet will be happy tomorrow when I am in the car most of the day heading to the next stop🤣 (You will also see that I visited some familiar friends at The Franklin Institute’s special exhibition commemorating a certain company’s centennial celebration)
