Sunset at the Besparmak Mountains

Also known as the Kyrenia Mountains, this long and narrow mountain range that runs for approximately 160 km along the northern coast of the island of Cyprus. It is primarily made of crystalline limestone, with some marble. Its highest peak is Mount Selvili, at 1,024 m.

Büyük Han (The Great Inn) is the largest caravanserai on the island of Cyprus. It is one of the most important architectural works of the Ottoman period, and is located in the traditional market centre within the City Walls of Nicosia. Today, the Inn has been revived as a thriving arts centre, consisting of several galleries and workshops. The Inn also has several courtyard cafes and souvenir shops.

Arabahmet quarter is one of the historic quarters of Nicosia within the walls. The quarter is named after Arab Ahmet Pasha, one of the Turkish commanders in the Ottoman conquest of Nicosia. This neighbourhood is home to well-preserved examples of Ottoman-era town-house architecture. Arabahmet was the Armenian quarter of Nicosia until 1963 when the Green Line was drawn through the city. The entire area is imbued with a heady sense of yesteryear and is one of North Nicosia's most interesting neighbourhoods to stroll.
