We are officially mountain hikers! Our recent 4 mile hike in Custer State Park is the first time we have ever hiked a mountain as a family! (maybe a big hill but coming from flat Indiana, it was a mountain to us!) The first mile on Lovers Leap trail was all uphill. 😱 The last 3 miles were down hill and along a creek. There was a lot of huffing and puffing, a little bit of whining but a whole lot of ooh’s and aah’s once we reached the top! ➡️ And we all want to do it again!

When we moved to our current home, it wasn’t an exciting experience. It was a new chapter we did not want to start. Slowly, we have discovered what a unique and beautiful neighborhood we live in and we have neighebors who are like family now! This creek runs through our neighborhood and the developer paved a trail along side of it. The kids found a board to cross the creek to access the other side. They come here to hang out and, if you swipe ➡️, you’ll see what they have built! These are little signs that we made the right move. ❤️

Hangtime!
Circa 2013. The boys still talk about this trip like it was yesterday. My daughter was 18m old and dreams of returning someday and adding to her memories.
Hanging out at this lagoon, swimming with wildlife, learning new water activities all made for a perfect Hawaiian vacation with littles.
Now that they are older, where in HI should I take them?

The Lone Cypress tree is, in fact, not alone. The tree is a popular attraction making it the most photographed tree in North America. It’s even an icon in the Pebble Beach community. It has persevered through 250 years of fire and storms. The most recent event occurred in 2019 when it lost it’s left limb to damaging winds during a storm. My pic was taken after the storm.

Growing up, my small hometown decorated a few street lamps, we would drive around the neighborhoods looking at lights, and attend Christmas Eve church service. My current suburban hometown has a strong german influence and opened a Christkindlmarkt a few years ago! It is now part of our family tradition during the holidays to ice skate, shop for German gifts and devour Raclette sandwiches (cheese fired). Oh, and Glühwein!🍷
