“Urgent call to stop the influx of tourists at both Corn islands to avoid outbreak of Covid 19.

A neighbor from Little Island wrote an urgent reflection for both islands, which are still receiving tourists despite global recommendations that social isolation is important, this was written:

In the past few days I have tried to share some personal opinions on public websites of the Corn Islands, with the intention of generating some more awareness and preventing possible entries of the coronavirus in this island region.

In trying to do so, I discovered that the vast majority of public websites on both islands belong to expat foreigners who also prioritize their own businesses over the health of islanders.

I discovered that most of them prefer to block and remove any comments that encourage them to reflect and reconsider the temporary closure of their tourist places, just like we have already done most.

It's been really disappointing having to deal with so much ignorance and selfishness together.

The message is easy to understand:

IF PEOPLE WHO GET TO CORN ISLANDS HAVE TO GO BACK TO MANAGUA BECAUSE THEY CAN'T FIND A HOTEL TO SLEEP IN OR RESTAURANT TO EAT AT, SOON NO ONE WILL COME.

WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST POSSIBLE SCENARIO IS TO AVOID OR REDUCE THE VIRUS ENTRY IN OUR INSULAR COMMUNITIES.

People who still receive new visitors are putting us all at risk.

They are prioritizing their own personal economy to public health throughout the community, ignoring planetary recommendations of physical distancing and isolation.

IT IS OUR WORK TO MAKE OUR NEIGHBORS KNOW WHEN THEY BEHAVE EGOTISTICALLY IRRESPONSIBLE WITH THEIR COMMUNITY AND BEG THEM TO RECONSIDER TO KEEP THE PANDEMIC SITUATION FROM SPREADING.

Remind them that in the islands there are no respirators, much needed when there are complications if you get Covid 19.”

islas del Maiz psra evitar brote de Covid 19

Un vecino de Little Island, escribió una reflexión urgente para ambas islas , que aún están recibiendo turistas a pesar de las recomendaciones mundiales que es importante el aislamiento social , esto fue lo escribió:

En los últimos días he intentado compartir algunas opiniones personales en páginas web públicas de las Corn Islands, con la intención de generar algo más de conciencia y prevenir posibles entradas del coronavirus en esta región insular.

Al intentar hacerlo, descubrí que la gran mayoría de las páginas web públicas en ambas islas pertenecen a extranjeros expatriados que, además priorizan sus negocios propios sobre la salud de los isleños.

Descubrí que la mayoría de ellos prefieren bloquear y eliminar cualquier comentario que les anime a reflexionar y reconsiderar el cierre temporal de sus lugares turísticos, al igual que ya hemos hecho la mayoría.

Ha sido realmente decepcionante tener que lidiar con tanta ignorancia y egoísmo juntos.

El mensaje es fácil de entender:

SI LA GENTE QUE LLEGA A LAS CORN ISLANDS TIENE QUE REGRESARSE A MANAGUA PORQUE NO ENCUENTRA NI HOTEL DONDE DORMIR NI RESTAURANTE DONDE COMER, PRONTO NADIE VENDRÁ.

LO CUAL SERÍA EL MEJOR ESCENARIO POSIBLE PARA EVITAR O REDUCIR LA ENTRADA DEL VIRUS EN NUESTRAS COMUNIDADES INSULARES.

La gente que todavía recibe nuevos visitantes están poniendonos a todos en riesgo.

Están priorizando su propia economía personal a la salud pública de toda la comunidad, ignorando las recomendaciones planetarias de distanciamiento físico y aislamiento.

ES NUESTRAS LABOR HACER SABER AMABLEMENTE A NUESTROS VECINOS CUANDO SE COMPORTAN DE FORMA EGOÍSTAMENTE IRRESPONSABLE CON SU COMUNIDAD Y ROGARLES QUE RECONSIDEREN EL MANTENER SUS LOCALES CERRADOS TEMPORALMENTE HASTA QUE LA SITUACIÓN DE PANDEMIA GLOBAL MEJORE.

Recordarles que en las islas no hay respiradores, muy necesarios cuando hay complicaciones si te contagias de Covid 19

The Lighthouse on Little Corn hosted their very first wedding and it was picture perfect. ❤️🥰

We have been honored to receive Kendall and Chris’s wedding party.
It was the first time for the lighthouse to host such a lovely event. We hope you guys had a wonderful day.
