Château du Bois Giraud is a privately owned château located near the village of St Philbert en Mauges, in the region of Maine et Loire, France. It is set in 20 acres of rural parkland which affords guests a high degree of privacy. The château has been restored to an excellent condition, and whilst it retains the feel of a traditional French château, it also provides guests with a high level of comfort and all modern conveniences.

To many Britons, the first hints of autumn imply a myriad of different experiences. For others, it involves making plans for bramble jelly, apple chutney and other fine comestibles whose aromas can enhance any kitchen. There is also the somewhat less idyllic experience of buying new school uniforms....

The Chateau is ideal for multigenerational families and groups of friends. We have a large heated swimming pool, a well equipped kitchen, an elegant and traditional dining room, a beautiful salon room, a games room suitable for all ages and for those who are feeling energetic, a gym at the top of the Chateau and the trampoline next to the swimming pool.

The Chateau is owned by three sisters, Tanya, Katharine and Marian. She adored her time at the Chateau, but sadly she died last year. However, had she been alive, today we would have been celebrating her 80th birthday here at the Chateau. We will raise a glass to her and remember the wonderful times that we shared with her here.

One of Gauguin’s most treasured possessions was a painting by Cézanne, 'Still Life with Fruit Dish' (1879–80, now Museum of Modern Art, New York ), which he emulates in this picture.
Within a similarly compressed space, Gauguin substituted mangoes for Cézanne’s apples and a Tahitian-style printed cloth for a French floral wallpaper design. One significant departure is the human figure at the upper right, glimpsed through a door or window.
The year after he completed this work, Gauguin’s finances were so dire that he arranged for the sale of his prized Cézanne.
