Naari Sammaan Yatra - Motorcycle ride to

1. Divya Vidyalaya - Jawhar
2. Bamboo products making Village : Datelpada, Vikramgad, Maharashtra

Planned this motorcycle ride a month back with an intent of showcasing the work done by the ladies in the villages in this area.

We were 16 riders in all of which 3 decided to come in car due to some personal issues. There was a lady who had fractured her hand some time back due to a fall but didn't back out and joined us in the ride.

Little did they expect what was in store for them and when they saw and heard about the work being done, they were pleasantly surprised.

They were overwhelmed by the way they were welcomed at these 2 places. They bought quite a few of the bamboo products from both the places.

The blind students in the school presented few songs to entertain us and Pramila Tai gave us an insight of how they went about setting up the school and its functionality.

We had breakfast at the school which was tasty and nutritious as well.

As a token of love and appreciation, we presented a shawl to Tai with our signatures on it and a tag line of 'Naari - Tu Lai Bhaari'

We then went to the village in Vikramgad and here we were again surprised to see all the villagers (women) decked up in Navvari sarees waiting to welcome us in their traditional way (haldi kumkum, flowers and aarti)

We joined them in their folk dance for a while before gathering in one of their assembly rooms. We were also welcomed individually with flowers made out of bamboos.

A round of introduction was done of all the riders and the main karyakartas of the sangh.

Lunch was amazing and we all had a full stomach meal.

We then proceeded to show our love and appreciation to all the womenfolk there and presented them with a shawl too duly signed by the riders and the tag line too.

Our day ended with every rider being impressed and in awe of the achievements of the villagers, especially the grit and determination of the women.

A happy ending to the ride and loads of sweet memories

This ride is to meet the womenfolk in the villages who have done immense work in improving the lifestyle of the people in their villages, helped setup school for the blind and mentally challenged children who were not easily accepted in the society.
You will be amazed by the amount of work done and the impact it has created in the lives of the villagers.

Food cost will be 350 per head (including breakfast and lunch)

We shall not be donating any money in these institutions but would request everyone to buy at least one item from them which will boost their morale and motivate them to be self dependent.

They are reasonably priced, attractive and usable in your day to day life. So your contribution will make a difference in a positive way to them.

10 Jan to 17 Jan 2021: Road trip to Rann of Kutch

Day 1

The ride started with 3 of us from Mumbai. We began our journey around 8.30 am with the family of our client bidding her farewell and flagging off our journey.

It was a first ever long ride for our client, so obviously the jitters and excitement were there. The riding was initially slow with us getting used to the weather, each other's riding style, speed, etc. Breakfast at Shree Datta gave us some much needed energy and also acted as an icebreaker between the 3 of us.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway's road conditions are good but the irregular way of driving makes it difficult to ride smoothly in one lane and also quite time consuming.

We stopped to have the famous "Ubadiyu" at a dhaba by the road in Valsad. This delicacy is cooked in earthen pot over charcoal (chulha). It's all veggies like potato, sweet potato, beans, etc. The spices used are amazing and of course mouthwatering. Needless to say, we enjoyed and ate it to our heart's content.

We moved on and managed to reach Ankleshwar by 5 pm where we stopped for some tea, snacks and freshen up ourselves.

We once again started on our last leg of the day's journey to reach Ahmedabad. We managed to reach by 9.50 pm, just before the lockdown deadline of 10 pm.

Our friend welcomed us and hosted us in her home. We were treated to a lovely home cooked meal of daal khichdi, kadi, laddoos, etc.

Tired and drained of energy, we happily snored to glory till the next day.

31st January, 2021: Breakfast ride to Palghar with my students

We left at around 6.30 am from Dahisar check naka. 3 bikes 6 people; 1 new trainee, 3 well trained students and 2 trainers.

We stopped at Shree Datta for a sumptuous breakfast as we were all very hungry as we reached Palghar. So decided to stop over and fill out stomach before we rode further.

The plan was to go to any serene beach in Palghar.

So Mahim Beach it was where we reached after asking a local people around the area. The beauty took our breath away and all cameras came out😀😀. We spent almost 2 hours clicking photographs and shooting some videos on the beach before heading back home.

Our original plan of returning home by 1pm got extended and we ended up reaching home by evening 😀😀.

A day well spent, planned yet unplanned trip which we all enjoyed and created lovely memories.

Ride for Van (वन) Bhojan - Pimplas, Wada, Maharashtra

We started off in the morning from Mumbai and rode to this beautiful village which is just on the outskirts of the city.

An approximate 2 hour journey - 90 kms one way.

We reached the place around 9 am and waited for others to join us. The actual meeting time was 10 am, but we were glad to be able to reach earlier as we got enough time to look around and capture the beauty as it is.

The purpose of visit was to meet and greet the villagers, spend time with them and know their lifestyle.

We gathered at the village school premises where we were served tea. We then went on a small jungle trail. One of the villagers gave us watermelon which was grown in his field organically. He explained to us how he took care of his harvests and kept it well nourished by not using any chemicals or pesticides, etc. The watermelons were indeed very fresh and sweet.

We started our meeting by introducing ourselves and then discussed the agenda.

We took a walk around the jungle area led by the villagers.

Lunch was prepared in a traditional way on the chulha. This is what we had come to enjoy. Needless to say, the food was amazing and one couldn't stop from eating to their heart's content.

We thanked the villagers for hosting us and providing us with such wonderful insight of their lifestyle and the amazing food which was prepared using the vegetables grown from their own farms organically before we started our journey back home.

A day well spent with amazing experience. Who thought that there is a place like this just on the outskirts of the ever busy never sleeping city of Mumbai.

A must visit place!!!
