This month we welcomed 20 talented, vibrant, and eager new colleagues to ! 🚀 They recently completed our central onboarding program in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Over the course of three days, our new colleagues got familiarized to all things Bilfinger Engineering and worked on a multidisciplinary and case brought to us by What The Future. This innovative company has developed a groundbreaking production technique based on 3D printing, with substantial advantages for shoe production.

Tasked with developing a production facility for shoes with the smallest economically viable production capacity, our team diligently worked on defining the business case, investment cost, process units and mass balance, equipment layout and provided advice on permits and sustainability.

We look back on a successful onboarding program! Special thanks to Martijn van den Hul and Edmund (Ned) Aufenast from What The Future for their enthusiasm, open information sharing and constructive comments.

Let us introduce you to Reindrik Huizing, who has been working as a lead and manager engineering at Bilfinger in the Netherlands for more than 5 years. Before joining , Reindrik was working within the as a process engineer from 2008 to 2018 and he therefore understands the needs of our customers very well.

Reindrik recently joined the team at Bilfinger Nordic Region and will be staying with them for 6 months in their head office in Porsgrunn at Herøya Industripark. His role there is to increase collaboration between Bilfinger Engineering in Belgium and the Netherlands and Bilfinger in the Nordic region.

The team in Belgium and the Netherlands has extensive experience in front-end engineering including large-scale Greenfield projects, which is an addition to the services Bilfinger in the Nordic region is currently offering.

With Reindrik on board, we can offer our customers in the Nordic region a wider range of engineering services and increase support to help them reach their and goals.

Will carbon dioxide and be the building blocks of our future? Today, carbon dioxide is, in the , mostly considered as a waste product that becomes more and more expensive. Hydrogen is considered an important buffering method in the . When considering the material transition, these two molecules will meet and the carbon chain will be built up from scratch.

At Bilfinger, we have grouped these activities into five pillars: Green Hydrogen production, Carbon Capture, Storage and Distribution, Import and Export, and Utilization. We support the industry and TSO companies with projects in these 5 pillars, from the early business case until converted EPC or EPCm.

Dirk Kessels has been a proud member of for almost 7 years. His journey of becoming a Senior Process Engineer has been fulfilling, driven by a passion for understanding and optimizing chemical production processes and equipment design.

“One of my current projects involves sizing a CO2 stripping tower using Aspen, a process simulation program. The tower will remove captured CO2 from the solvent that has absorbed it from a flue gas flow. I find it rewarding to validate the model results with practical judgement.”

“My goal has always been to fully understand the production processes to optimize them effectively. At Bilfinger Engineering, this ambition is realized by combining my knowledge and skills to design efficient systems tailored to our client's needs.”

Hendrik Bosscher recently returned to and we are very excited to have him back. Alongside with the knowledge and skills gained during his first time at Bilfinger Tebodin, he is returning with even more experience as a mechanical .

“I left with a good feeling from my previous working period at Bilfinger Tebodin. The size of the company and the opportunities to grow motivated me to come back. Also, the multidisciplinary projects we work on give everyone a chance to explore different disciplines and directions. This is what I am most looking forward to coming back as well.”

When asked what would be a movie title representing his recent career outside Bilfinger, Hendrik named it simply as “Life of an engineer”.

On June 7, we gathered at our office on the High Tech Campus Eindhoven for a Knowledge Experience Session, diving deep into the world of and .

After some time away, Teun de Weerd could not resist coming back to . The diversity of work and multidisciplinary projects is what encouraged Teun’s return. At his previous job as an installer, he explored new areas in his and gained a lot of experience as an focusing on the details. Apart from all the acquired knowledge, he missed the collaborative environment and recently joined Bilfinger Tebodin again as a HVAC Engineer.

“I bring back valuable experience at the other side of the table as a recipient of specifications created by firms. This perspective will help enhance the quality of the pieces we create at Bilfinger, ensuring we pay close attention to what contractors need from our specifications. “

Last week, our colleagues were present at the Bilfinger booth at ACHEMA 2024. We look back on a busy week full of networking and knowledge sharing. Our commitment to being No. 1 in and is at the forefront of everything we do and we are happy that we could showcase how we do this.

Gold Again for Our Efforts 🥇🌱

Every year, we have our sustainability externally evaluated by EcoVadis. For the second consecutive time, we achieved top results: In the 2023 rating, as in the previous year, we received a gold medal. This means that we are among the top 5 percent of all companies assessed in this year, regardless of the .

We are particularly pleased that we are continuously improving our sustainability. In the 2021 rating, we received a silver medal, in 2022 we got our first gold for a total score of 68 points, and in 2023 we achieved a total of 70 points and even improved by 10 points in the category.

We are proud to share our successful collaboration with Teijin Aramid to enhance the and of their plant in Farmsum, the Netherlands. Our Asset Management Consultants conducted a thorough RAM (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability) analysis and FMECA (Failure Mode Effect & Criticality Analysis), leading to the development of a strategic investment roadmap.

This project was special to us as it marked our first Reliability Management analysis on a plant. By employing a bottom-up approach, we effectively integrated the perspectives of all stakeholders into the strategic investment roadmap, aligning and investment efforts to achieve the desired balance between costs, risks, and performance. We are excited to welcome our new colleagues who recently completed our Central Onboarding Program in May! As part of their onboarding, they worked on a fascinating multidisciplinary case study for ecop Technologies GmbH, a pioneering technology company in Austria.

ECOP develops innovative high-temperature, large-scale and chillers for industrial use, capable of reaching up to 200°C with a lift of up 100K and 700 kW thermic, without the need for harmful or climate-damaging refrigerants. During the Onboarding, our new colleagues designed a layout for a heat-pump production factory and calculated the business case for its application to a potential client.

🚀 Exciting News! Bilfinger's Strategic Collaboration with TKF (BV Twentsche Kabelfabriek): Ensuring Long-Lasting Success in Manufacturing

I have worked on projects involving the storage and shipping of liquid CO2, delving into complex technical aspects whilst considering environmental implications.
