I just had a great conversation with the head of a major Lutheran Mission Organization about how LutheranBnB can help support their missionaries.

One of the things he wanted me to relay to you is that if YOU open your home to one of their missionaries, you can receive an official Charitable Gift receipt that can be used on your taxes.

He noted that the receipt wouldn't say a dollar amount but rather nights spent and that you would figure Fair Market Value with your Tax Preparer.

Next week I'll be attending the annual LCMS Disaster Response conference at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne-CTSFW to learn more about how Congregations can show mercy in times of disaster. I'll also be telling everyone about how spreading the word about LutheranBnB could help people evacuate before or after a disaster and volunteers have a comfortable place to sleep during their response.

Cancellations can be a MAJOR blow to both hosts and guests, avoid them at all costs.

Sometimes they're unavoidable, but do what you can to make it right. If a guest was hoping to stay with you, especially if your listing is free or discounted for church workers and you cancel last minute, they may be forced to find emergency lodging they really can't afford.
