a Celebration of the Shortest Day of the Year
On the Winter Solstice, the northern hemisphere tilts farthest away from the sun, signaling the start of longer days ahead. In Yelm, we use the Winter Solstice to replace winter doldrums with a sense of renewal by bringing light and joy to the dark winter days. Cochrane Park, arguably Yelm's most beautiful park, dresses itself in lights for the annual candlelit walk.
