Welcome to Cobblestone Retreat, a quiet oasis nestled in the midst of a tall white pine forest. Six minutes north of Grafton Ontario, on 22 acres.

I could imagine this morning that overnight I had been transported to a mountainous region with the clouds formed in sky as they were! A rather magical delight for me.

A first sighting for me after all these years of living here! We regularly hear them in the woods, but they’re always hidden. Wish I’d had a better camera on hand. Beautiful Barred Owl nonetheless, and she allowed me to admire her for quite some time.

When I stumbled across this beauty (apricot jelly fungus?) I was struck by how the land mimics the sea. As a scuba diver I saw coral that looked very similar to this species while diving in the Caribbean.
You just never know what the forest will bring forth when you go for a stroll. It’s all part of the adventure.

It seems the colours of autumn aren’t as brilliant this year but there is still some beauty to be found when the sun captures the trees at just the right angle. Hoar frost in field beyond.

It’s a very rare thing to see these beautiful flowers converge at the same time. So pretty this morning. The growing season has allowed for some very lush vegetation (and perhaps the crushed eggs shells I sprinkled into the soil at the end of last season).
