Update 8/4 after lowering rates several times I have 22 bookings going forward which is above average. However, I STILL have a week coming up soon August 31 - September 6, 2024, and since last minute now offered at just $295 per night + fees and taxes. This is below my cost of ownership and less than 1/2 of what the average nightly rate has been for years. Take advantage!

I’m a retired/disabled firefighter and I own and manage the only GROUND FLOOR 2 bedroom 2 bath luxury condominium on the north side of the fabulous Honua Kai Resort & Spa on Ka'anapali Beach, which I believe is the best "condo-tel" property on Maui. Ka'anapali Beach is consistently rated one of the top 10 in the world and we're on the quiet side of it, north of Black Rock. This 5 star oceanfrony resort has acres of pools, a spa, an included gym, bell and valet service, concierge, and Duke's restaurant on site. If you've never stayed on the ground floor, you'll be hooked on not having to use elevators, plus you only get 11 foot high ceilings and your own yard on the ground floor. I list on VRBO and Airbnb but they charge a lot to act as middleman. You can save $ by booking direct at www.clevertrevor.net. Honua Kai is not a budget property, it's outrageously expensive to own, but I strive to beat my competition by offering the best vacation experience and best value for your buck in west Maui.

My Puamana townhome in south Lahaina is unburned and several families have returned to living there. The sewer services are back on and the water is on and safe to drink. I've blocked that calendar through September 22, 2024 and I'll be staying there myself before that time.

I've been staying there since there are porta potties and water trailers. Sewer service has been restored and water is flowing but not yet certified for drinking, which is expected soon. I've blocked that calendar through the end of July 2024.

In May of 2024 Maui's Mayor proposed phasing out certain vacation rentals in apartment zones beginning in July 2025 to hopefully covert some of those properties to long term rentals - if it happens it WILL NOT affect my unit or any other unit in Honua Kai which is zoned Hotel. Honua Kai is much too expensive for long term tenancy which is why literally nobody lives or will live at this resort full time. It will also not affect my unit at Puamana, which is zoned residential and also is much too expensive for long term rentals. Tourism represents the vast majority of Maui's economy. Mahalo for your support.

My Konea 142 2 bedroom 2 bath, ground floor luxury condominium at the fabulous Honua Kai resort can be rented for less than the average Wailea Maui hotel room, and less than Hawaiin's average "luxury class" hotel room. Hotel rooms of course lack a full kitchen, laundry machines, a second bedroom and bathroom plus a large living area and laundry machines, and is probably half the size of our 1230 interior square feet. You just get a lot more for your money when you stay with Clever Trevor. No wonder the hotels hate having to compete with vacation rentals! If you've never stayed on the ground floor, I predict you'll be hooked by not having to deal with elevators, plus you only get 11 foot high ceilings and your own yard and garden on the ground floor. You can save $ by booking direct at www.clevertrevor.net. I have a nicely discounted opening February 25-March 1, 2024. I can use the revenue but if it doesn't book I will just go myself and have a flight reserved on Southwest that I can cancel up to 10 minutes prior and get full credit. I was forced to retire as a firefighter for the city of Reno as the result work injuries that required a total shoulder replacement. Honua Kai is not a budget property, it's outrageously expensive to own, but I strive to beat my competition by offering the best vacation experience and best value for your buck in west Maui.

I’ve also had great stays at Honua Kai since the fire. I’m sharing this from another forum:

“I just wanted to share our experience staying at Honua Kai on the west side of Maui for 7 days (October 10-17th) for anyone who may be unsure if they should go or not as we were in the same boat in the weeks prior to coming.

TLDR: GO!

We stayed at Honua Kai and while there are a good amount of displaced families there, you would never know it aside from the parking lots being pretty full (valet is free though). There was never more than 8-10 people at the pool at any given time, everyone was pleasant and respectful, Duke's had a great energy (even a wait most nights). It felt like Maui as we remembered it last.

Every place we went to was very thankful to have tourism starting to pick back up. Forget all the people in these groups telling you not to go, everyone we talked to there said exactly the opposite!

Some of the things we did that I think others might enjoy as well:

Haleakala sunset - amazing views and what we did not expect was how amazing the stars were after dark (7pm), it is an absolute must see! (Try to get to get up there at or before 5pm to ensure you get a spot at the very top as the view is best from there IMO)

Driving up to the the Nakalele Blowhole and stopping at all the stops along the way, most notably snorkeling at Honolua Bay

Snorkeling with turtles and cliff jumping at Black Rock

Hiking the Waihee Ridge Trail

Helicopter tour with Vince from Air Maui

Maui Swap Meet

Sunset at Ho'okipa beach”

UPDATED HONUA KAI RESORT OPENING INFORMATION

Aloha Owners and ORCs-

We are in the process of opening our property facilities for use by all of our guests. As we are welcoming Tourists to Honua Kai, they will be issued a wristband upon arrival at the bell desk at each Tower. The wristband is only for identification purposes so they are recognized as guests of the property

Each guest will be issued a parking placard that will authorize their vehicle to be on property. Designated placards will allow garage parking.

All facilities will be opening over the next few weeks. Currently open as of today…
