When your in a new place each meal is a gamble. Sometimes it's a disappointment, and other times you get a pleasant surprise. Okay, this is very strange. In NZ they serve scallops with the orange half moon part, not just the white part like in the rest of the world. The first time we were totally weirded out, and asked the chef what was up. He was British and he said that it's just a Kiwi thing. Then, sure enough, we ordered scallops a second time and it had the orange part again! Has anyone seen this before???

We're finally caught up with our posts and are in the correct country. The Plate We Ate is indeed in NZ! Damn IG hackers have put behind, but we're back. In Rotarua now, and heading down to the South Island soon.

A few months back The Plate We Ate's Instagram was hacked (multiple times) by Russian hackers. We've been working with IG and finally we were forced to delete our account and start over. We're back up and running again with the same handle. I'm slowly adding past images from our trip the next few weeks until we're back to the present day.
