في ضوء استئناف الحركة السياحية الوافدة إلى مصر اعتبارا من اوائل يوليو، اختارت وزارة السياحة والآثار عدد من المواقع الأثرية والمتاحف لإعادة فتحها للجمهور كمرحلة أولى تمهيدا للافتتاح التدريجي لكل المتاحف والمواقع.

واوضح د. مصطفى وزيري الأمين العام للمجلس الأعلى للآثار، ان هذه المتاحف والمواقع شملت خمسة متاحف هي: متحف النوبة، ومتحف الأقصر، والمتحف المصري بالتحرير ومتحف الفن الاسلامي، والمتحف القبطي، بالاضافة إلى ٨ مواقع أثرية هي معابد أبو سمبل وفيله بأسوان، والكرنك والاقصر والدير البحري ومقابر وادي الملوك بالاقصر ومنطقة اهرامات الجيزة وقلعة صلاح الدين بالقاهرة.
