White Easter on Arran!
VisitArran is delighted to announce that, despite the extreme weather conditions suffered last weekend, the beautiful Isle of Arran will be open for business for Easter 2013! SSE has confirmed that all areas of the island will have electricity supply restored by Thursday 28th March. This has only been achieved following the tremendous work carried out by contractors and volunteers to whom all Arran communities are extremely grateful.
Main roads are open although it is advised that anyone driving takes care and proceeds cautiously as engineers might still be working on the power supply system around the island, as a result public transport may be limited. VisitArran would recommend visitors to contact their accommodation providers to ensure that they are open as some businesses may have suffered snow damage. As a result a few of the attractions may not be able to open in time for Good Friday.
VisitArran would like to assure visitors that thanks to statutory and voluntary assistance, those most vulnerable residents will receive ongoing assistance if required. Yesterday the Scottish Government announced that support will also be available for Arran’s farming community.
Islanders have been overwhelmed with support and kind thoughts from the rest of the country and know that this will continue, as visitors come to spend their White Easter on Arran, enjoying stunning views, great food and drink and community spirit!
We will update as developments proceed and thank you all for your support at this difficult time.
