Stopped at a vendor on the side of the road with his pet dog and donkey selling handmade St. Bridget’s crosses.

Visited a sheep farm to watch sheep being herded by a border collie.

Great news!

The State Department announced that Americans can now renew their adult passports online (see requirements below), fully rolling out a system that bypasses the traditional method that required printing out a form and mailing a check.

You can renew online if you meet all these requirements:

~The passport you are renewing is or was valid for 10 years, and you are age 25 or older.

~We issued the passport you are renewing between 2009 and 2015, or over 9 years but less than 15 years from the date you plan to submit your application.

~You are not changing your name, gender, date of birth, or place of birth.

~You are not traveling for at least 8 weeks from the date you will submit your application. We will only offer routine service, and the time it takes to get a passport will be the same as renewing by mail.

~You are applying for a regular (tourist) passport. You cannot renew a special issuance (diplomatic, official, service) passport online.

~You live in the United States (either state or territory). You do not qualify to renew online if you live in a foreign country or have an Army Post Office (APO) or Fleet Post Office (FPO) address.

~You have your passport with you, and it is not damaged or mutilated, and you have not reported it as lost or stolen. Keep your most recent passport and do not mail it to us.

~You can pay for your passport using a credit or debit card.

~You can upload a digital passport photo.

~You are aware that we will cancel the passport you are renewing after you submit your application. You cannot use that passport for international travel any longer.

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to participate in a 4 day "test" cruise to Alaska for Norwegian Cruise Line, as required by the CDC in order for NCL Encore to begin sailing out of the United States.

I was excited to be able to see what cruising would be like first-hand as we battle through this pandemic.

Before embarking on the ship, each passenger had to be fully vaccinated and had to have a COVID test administered at the hotel across the street, free of charge. The process was very streamlined and organized and took about 30-40 minutes from start to finish. A pink wristband indicated you tested negative and could board the ship!

Once on board, you could rest assured that EVERY person, including crew and passengers were 100% vaccinated! Unfortunately, that means that families with children under 12 won't be able to sail on Norwegian right now, through 2021. But for my husband and I, it felt like an adults only vacation!

I felt as safe as one can feel during these uncertain times, knowing that everyone was vaccinated. Even with everyone vaccinated, all of the crew wore masks the entire time, while passengers were free to decide whether or not they wanted to wear masks.

I'm not here to say that cruising is safe. Anytime you step out of your bubble of your home and fellow bubble-mates, you take a risk. But, if you're in a position to take a risk, Norwegian has a great product to offer for a wonderful vacation!

I saw a Norwegian cruise ship on the horizon last night. The workers at our resort said the ship takes a sail about every couple of days...

As we leave Aruba today, our cab driver was chatting with us about the first cruise ship with only about 500 passengers arriving in Aruba tomorrow. I felt happy for him that business will start to pick up, happy for travelers, including myself!

The Millennium set off with 95% of its passengers and the entire crew fully vaccinated -- making it the largest COVID-19-vaccinated cruise in the world so far.
