Baroque master, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, died on this day in 1680 but his legacy lives on.

This sculpture, Apollo, in the photo is my current favorite of his works. You can find it in the Borghese Gallery.

The Pantheon is one of Rome's most gorgeous monuments. It was originally built as a temple to the Roman Gods.

Now it belongs to the Vatican City and is officially a Catholic Church.

I've always been intrigued by masquerades. 🦹‍♀️

You may have noticed that our logo is a mask!

NOT the pandemic kind! The masquerade kind. 😎

Masks represent the magical, intangible, otherworldly, and mysterious. They represent identity, loss of identity, the finding of oneself in removing or wearing a mask.

For me, the joy of traveling is related to uncovering another side to myself, which sometimes means letting another side go.

This is why I love meeting our guests while they're in Italy...which I don't always get to do...because I'm usually the behind the scenes lady! 😅

I see the renewal of spirt people feel when they're abroad. When we travel we get to try on another culture and it's just the best seeing how each culture feels on you.

Speaking of which, how cool would it be to dress up so no one can recognize you and then go to a big party and celebrate?! 🎉

The Venice Carnival starts February 12th. If you're headed there, you are in for a real treat!

Love is in the Air!

The truth is....there are endless romantic spots all over the country. My first boss in Rome would repeatedly point out to me that "Roma" spelled backward is "Amor" so Rome is clearly up there on the romantic list.....! 😅

There's also Verona, where Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet took place and there's Venice, a city like no other and then of course Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance...and Naples the city which oozes soul!

It's just too hard to choose! You'll have to choose for yourself. 😅

Who's seen Paolo Sorrentino's new film, "The Hand of God" ? 🎬✋

What a beautiful immersion into Neapolitan life 🤩 ! If you haven't seen it, check it out!

Naples is for sure the liveliest, most colorful Italian city I've been to. When I was there I felt like I was in a dreamy 1950's era.

It's bursting with life with its world class cafes, bakeries, gelaterias, shops, street performers, and chatty locals.🥳

So many travelers skip Naples on their trip. DON'T BE ONE OF THE THEM!

Today, we bow our heads to those whose lives were savagely robbed in the Holocaust and to those who survived and rose above their unimaginable suffering.

Italy shares the blame in the Holocaust's shameful history and participated in the awful treatment of its Jewish residents by allowing the deportation of approximately 1800 Jewish residents to Auschwitz to be killed. Only 16 survived.

What is now a beautiful, thriving, Jewish neighborhood full of bustling restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and community in Rome, the Jewish Ghetto was once a prison to many, and housed unspeakable trauma.

May we all learn from history to treat each other with love and respect no matter who we are.

One of the coolest things about Taormina is how you get an excellent view of Mt. Etna, Europe's tallest active volcano erupt.

There was a big volcanic smoke cloud right over Taormina when I went for a swim at the beautiful La Pigna Beach in Mazzaro Bay yesterday. 💥☁️🚴🏿‍♂️🚵🏿‍♀️⛱

For you athletes out there, did you know you can cycle or hike up the volcano?

When it's unbearably hot in the summer here, you can take a trip right up to the volcano to get a dose of fresh, cold air and snowy peaks too 😊!
