Well we did it, we survived! Three brave Texans and three of us crew just completed a run of over 2000km from the China/Russia/Mongolia border through the steppes, through Xanadu, through the Great Wall and through a few brewskies, and made it back alive!
Truly awesome run. To begin the weather threw all it had at us (including hail believe it!) as we battled the 300km of the infamous Route 303. Worst piece of road you can imagine through the most beautiful grasslands and mountains you've ever seen. We camped successfully even given the elements and ate fine steaks and drank fine whiskey by the fire with Cuban ci**rs. Undaunted we bravely woke each day, broke camp and powered on - with strange WWI documentary commentary running through our heads "during the winter of 1943 the German Allied forces suffered severe reversals..."
We chased the storms across the plains and finally broke through to the northern heartlands and the sunshine. An all day push saw us back on schedule and we started peeling layers and peeling rubber. We visited Mongolian farmers, marauded villages and busted our way to the ruins of Genghis's pleasure palace, wow nice real estate.
Riding like troopers our valiant Texans did the lone star proud and with hardly a hissy fit, got the Wall in there sites and zeroed in. The capital was a mere 200k's of pristine mountain roads and theirs to capture.
Thanks Geoff, John and Rod for "just doin' it" another great chapter in the Genghis Khan Run annals. Cheers lads.
