So tonight's celebrity guests...lol...no really. Bonnie Kilroe is here in Grand Forks with another show for the 3rd time! I should tell you that Bonnie is a Celebrity Impersonator from the coast. I booked her to perform at the Legion twice; her first time here she did Patsy Cline (she nails it, so entertaining), her second time here she did her DIVA show (my favourite) and Patsy Cline again and now Erinne Allen has booked Bonnie to perform for a fundraiser for the Boundary Women's Coalition. Multi-Musical Comedy Celebrity Impersonation Show
I love having my vacation rental because you never know who will be coming to stay with you. Last night I hosted a lovely family from Edmonton who are moving to Vancouver for a year in order for their son Essek Moore to have the chance to be part of the movie scene for more acting role opportunities. He 12 years old and has made two movies coming out this year: a Hallmark Movie called Christmas in Alaska and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever with Judy Greer (who I love). We just hosted a lovely family of four from Calgary and received a beautiful review: "Our family of four had an outstanding stay at Sandra's carriage house. It's decorated tastefully in a modern-meets-mountain style, with a spacious floor plan, upstairs patio, downstairs patio, and a proper kitchen ready for use. The bedding was pretty, the colors peaceful, and the artwork lovely. After a day at Christina Lake and area it was perfect to return here to this cozy and quiet cul-de-sac tucked between a hill and valley and surrounded by beautiful trees. It was SO quiet, and exactly what we were looking for. All the little extras that were included were very much appreciated; we especially liked the added touch of slippers! Sandra was the ideal host, communicative, organized and easy to reach. Our husbands had a couple interesting and long conversations, and the friendliness and welcoming nature in sharing their home was really kind. Thank you so much, Sandra for hosting us. We loved it!"

The kitchen is at the heart of most vacation rentals. Most people choose to stay in an Airbnb rather than a hotel because believe it or not they like to cook for themselves. To help make the most of my rental’s kitchen there are a handful of must-haves and then some great extras.
My kitchen is set up with a refrigerator, oven/stove, microwave toaster and dishwasher. I provide a Keurig Coffee Maker with a substantial choice of coffee and hot chocolate pods. I also have a mix of teas.
I think for travellers it is important to be able to offer them this perk so they can take their drinks out onto my upper deck and relax. 😁
A recent guest left a lovely note and $10 because they thought that they drank too much of my complimentary coffee...lol.
Here is what's going on in Grand Forks this July...
This trail is one that cyclists shouldn't miss when coming to Grand Forks: The next two trails in this booklet are ideal for cycling and skiing as well as walking. However, the North Fork Trail is best done downhill as the heritage rail bed has become quite rutted and sandy and poses a real challenge for cyclists going uphill. It is also a ‘mixed-use’ trail so you may encounter ATV’s and dirt bikes. To do this, start by loading up your bike on your car and heading 24 km west out of town to the Eholt turn off. Turn into the road and find the designated parking area on your left. Unload the bikes and head south down the Brown Creek Road which is the TCT and a logging road so look for all kinds of traffic. About 3 km south the road turns left downhill and heads for the North Fork. Stay on the rail bed and pass through the Rathmullen Gate. This side of the TCT has also been recently logged so the trail is wide and smoother. Be careful though; there have been washouts in this section and the rail bed is narrow in spots. Look for the trail down to the creek which flows all year round. Another 3 km and you will arrive at the first tunnel. These rail tunnels can be dark so proceed on your bike only if you have lights. The tunnels are beautiful in the winter with ice structures hanging from the ceiling and growing up from the floor. After you exit this tunnel, the views of the Granby Valley below are breathtaking. About 5 km further south you will find the next tunnel which is even longer and darker so be careful. Just south of the tunnel’s exit is the historic Sectionman Shed. This shed has been repurposed with bunk beds and table. There is also an outhouse here. Please go in and sign the log. Less than 2 km further south is the Fisherman Creek Road. Look for the trail to the falls on the uphill side of the rail bed. Unfortunately, in 2015 a windstorm blew down some very large trees and the trail is difficult but still worth exploring. The creek also flows all year round and is a good source of water if you need some. Travel another 4 km past the Goat Mountain Road and come to the Youth Bench recently placed on an ideal lookout by a group of young girls. Continue on the rail bed around the gate and across Eagle Ridge Road. This is a beautiful section around little Ward Lake. It is a wonderful opportunity for birders to observe a wide variety of birds most of the year. Continue on past two more gates designed to ‘quiet’ motorized traffic and arrive at the North Fork Road and another designated parking area and kiosk. Here is a something that makes me scratch my head. When we travel and book into hotels, we don't strip the beds...but just about 95% of my guests strip the beds, sweep the floors and sometime wash out the bathroom. I charge a cleaning fee so you can hit the road and either travel on or head home after a vacation. This is by no means a complaint...lol.
