Our Story
Cahors Country House is a pretty and characterful 19th Century Quercy styled house, clad in Virginia Creeper and nestled in a tranquil and rural location in an unspoilt part of France. The nearest village is Lalbenque. Families and friends of all ages enjoy spending day after day in the wonderful private, heated (when the pool heater works) and enclosed swimming pool, terraced area, gardens and wildflower meadow; perfect for burning off steam and exploring! There are quiet corners for relaxation, and a well equipped children's play area too. The baby equipment is bountiful and as well as toys, there is even a dressing up box for hours of 'make believe' fun. We fell in love and bought the house in December 2006 from John and Gwan who stayed nearby and then became very dear friends. We had a great introduction to the neighbours, some of whom have become good friends and spent time with us in the UK. Initially we rented the house out commercially but we stopped doing this a number of years ago and now enjoy the fact that family and friends can make use of it when we are not there. We have even managed to persuade our good friends, Bob and Hilary to buy the house next door.....well they needed something to keep them busy! Our aim is, Brexit permitting, to move out and make this our permanent residence within a couple of years but in the meantime if you think you would like to stay here do let us know. Of course all friends and family are welcome when we move there too ;)
