What is your take on doing speciality dining onboard cruise ships? 🤔🍽️

We’ve recently started branching out and booking more speciality dining restaurants during our cruises and we have really loved the food and overall experience of speciality dining. We now like to book at least one during our cruises.

HOOKED SEAFOOD might be our absolute favorite specialty dining restaurant on Royal Caribbean! 🦞🛳️

Everything is so good and you get so much food for a reasonable price. We paid $24.99 per person for lunch on day 3 of our Utopia of the Seas cruise.

Highlights of our meal include the lobster and steak entree, lobster Mac n’ Cheese side, and clam chowder starter! We can’t recommend this speciality dining restaurant enough! Amazing.

Each person could order an unlimited amount of starters, sides, and desserts. Just one entree per person.

Royal Caribbean International’s Utopia of the Seas towering over the Celebrity Cruises Reflection at Perfect Day at Cococay! 🛳️🏝️

The Utopia is almost double the size of the Reflection sitting in at 236,860 gross tons. Reflection is just 125,366 gross tons. Both are beautiful ships!

ROYAL RAILWAY! 🚂 🍽️ While on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas, we were one of the lucky few to be able to snag a reservation for the brand new Royal Railway dining experience! I have to say, Royal Caribbean really outdid themselves with this attraction. The attention to detail was amazing.

On day 2 of our cruise, we woke up to a telegraph, tickets, and a voicemail on our stateroom phone reminding us of our reservation and telling us to keep an eye out for bandits! 👀 We arrived to the Utopia Station about 30 mins early and was greeted with an included Apple Pie moonshine drink on the platform.

After about 10 mins or so, the conductor came out and told us it was boarding time for our train car. We were whisked away and seated very quickly in our perfect table for two.

Once everyone was seated, our waiters came out and explained the food menu, map of where the train would be going, and drink menu. And then, the show began!

As the train left the station, it actually felt like you were on a real moving train! It was so cool! Your seat gave you this sensation of movement through subwoofers and vibrations. Also, the curtains moved away from the “windows” which allowed you to see the landscape as we continued down the rails.

I won’t give too many details because I don’t want to spoil the fun but basically there are bandits that are running around on the train and it’s the conductor and our job to try and stop them from stealing a locked box.

Between the different scenes, we would order and be served our 5 course meal. Everyone got a bread cart and these chicken bbq cowboy hats which were very tasty. We ordered the Fart & Dart Baked Beans and the Old West Empanada Trio for starters. Both were great!

For our entree, we both ordered the braised short ribs and for dessert we went with the Royal Railway Cigar! We enjoyed both.

Overall, we loved this experience and can’t wait to see what they will add to it! Reservations were really hard to get but if you are able to, I’d highly recommend giving it a try! 🤠

What do you think is the best entry level cruise ship for first-time cruisers? 🤔

If you were to ask us, we believe that Royal Caribbean’s Freedom class ships - Freedom, Liberty, and Independence - are the perfect ships to book for your first cruise. These ships offer a lot and typically come at a lower price than the newer Oasis class ships. They also usually run 3 and 4 night cruises, which is a great way for people to give cruising a try. We’re curious to hear what you think!

The final dinner onboard the MSC Seashore was Italian night! I’ll be honest, this wasn’t my favorite night but James seemed to have liked it. We started off with the French Onion Soup and Shrimp Cocktail. For our entrees we both ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and for dessert we went with the Tiramisu which was very good! Day 6 dinner was great! We loved seeing all of the new menu items. We had the Stuffed Baked Mushrooms, Shrimp Cocktail, French Onion Soup, and Vegetable Spring Rolls as appetizers. For our main course, we ordered the Slow-Braised Lamb Shank and Pennette Pasta. Both were excellent. Dessert featured the Chocolate Duo Cake and Grandma’s Chocolate Cake! 🛳️🍽️
