The view from Red Cottage is perhaps the finest on Eilean Shona, you could happily spend all day watching the light dance on the loch and the weather blow by. This year’s sculptor in residence spent the month of March in Red Cottage, immersed in nature and creating beautiful works inspired by the island. He captured the many moods of Loch Moidart during his stay - thank you!

Our first guests of the season enjoyed a coffee in the sunshine as our wee shop and cafe reopened this week. Open twice a week for essentials and treats, our shop stocks wonderful local produce and store cupboard staples alongside hand made products and gifts. You can even preorder your supplies online ahead of your stay and find them waiting in your cottage on arrival…

Looking for the perfect getaway this Valentine’s Day? Designed with romance in mind our Sail Loft sits on the shore of Loch Moidart with utterly spectacular views. From the emperor sized bed you’ll watch the sunrise above Castle Tioram and perhaps you’ll see the local otter fishing in the bay or the family of sea eagles swooping past. If you can bare to part with the view there is much to explore, and after a day of adventuring, or a dip in the loch for the brave, the Nordic sauna is there to warm you up.
⁣
The living space occupies the upper level of the former working boat house, a space originally used to lay out yacht sails after vessels were brought out of the water. Beneath a church-like pitched ceiling, the main bedroom, living room, and kitchen are open-plan and feature a wood-burning stove at the heart of the building and a gorgeous custom-made copper roll top bath with loch views. During the day skylights flood the loft with light and in the evening the cantilevered balcony is a perfect stage for cocktails and canapés.

Eilean Shona (www.eileanshona.com) a privately owned island in the Inner Hebrides has eight self-catering cottages and a main house. We are looking for a practical, energetic couple with a taste for adventure, a can-do attitude and team spirit to work on this incredible island starting mid-February and finishing November 1. The work will be varied, indoor and outdoor. Candidates with previous experience in the hospitality industry (especially in holiday cottages/lodges/chalets with guest contact) will be favoured. Boating, gardening and practical skills (incl. using a chainsaw) are an advantage, but we’re primarily looking for hard workers who can learn quickly. Accommodation provided. No pets, and must own a car.⁣

Eilean Shona is hosting two nature retreats in May this year led by , who will help expand your knowledge about some of the UK’s finest wildlife and nature-based solutions to climate change via a range of activities such as sea kayaking, guided walks, foraging and workshops with local conservation experts.

With your own private chef cooking exquisite regionally-sourced food, and plenty of scheduled downtime to explore the island and unwind, these trips are fully organised so that all you need to do is book and show up.

The two dates are as follows:
1. 13th-17th May 2024 (leave London Monday am, return Friday am)
2. 17th-21st May 2024 (leave London Friday am, return Tuesday am)
