Once in a Lifetime Tour of Scotland!

“Our October 15-21, 2024 tour of Scotland was the best trip we have ever taken. With our interest in ancestry, the natural geologic environment and history, Lindsay Tours put together a personalized tour led by Ian Blair. Ian is an expert in all things Scottish and was able to enhance every stop with deep knowledge of the history and the geology of the land, making our experience rich and exciting. Ian looked after our personal needs, our thirst for learning, and managed our schedule. He was an expert driver on all types of roads including single track roads which meant we were able to sit back and enjoy! From start to finish Lindsay Tours employees were easy to communicate and work with and we felt confident through the process.

Our amazing tour included being picked up at our hotel in Edinburgh, where Ian gave us an informative driving tour of the city. After Edinburgh we went to Midhope Castle, Falkirk wheel and the Kelpies. We did not expect to be able to board a boat and experience the wheel but Ian got us there in time to board and ride, an unexpected treat. From there we went to Loch Lomond and walked the beautiful village of Luss. On the Isle of Mull we enjoyed a tour of Castle Duart, the village of Tobermory and Tobermory distillery, and took a ferry to Iona to see the Abbey. From Mull we traveled to Fort William, Glenfinnan Viaduct, Loch Shield, Glencoe (my favorite!), Culloden Battlefield, Loch Ness boat tour, and Urquhart Castle. Next we headed to the Isle of Skye where we had a great time despite the wind and rain from storm Ashley. We hiked the Fairy Pools, drove through the Black Cuillin Mountains, saw the Quiraing and Old Man of Storr shrouded with changing clouds, went to the fossil museum (a treat for me as I used to work in paleontology for the US Geological Survey). We ended with a tour of Talisker Distillery. Along the way, Ian stopped at many places he knew we would enjoy based on what he had learned about us. He also was patient and helpful with us getting photos of ourselves and our little Highland Coo stuffed animal everywhere we went. He called the coo the “wee one”. I am using the “wee ones” pictures to put a book of his travels together for my grandkids.

So many unexpected treats! Lindsay was the best way to see Scotland in a relaxed, no hassle way. Needless to say, we enjoyed every minute of it and highly recommend this company.”
