➡️Full of natural beauty, this Silk Route is a traditional part of the history of human civilization. If you look at the pages of history, you can see the exchange of goods along this long route extending to India, China, Persia, Arabia, Greece, and Italy in ancient times. There was a lot of trading in silk, fruits, vegetables, spices, fabrics, and metal goods were also traded equally.
This 'Silk Route' of East Sikkim is only an important part of the historic route, which connected Lhasa to Tamluk port via Chumbi Valley, (Chumbi Valley - Tibet) Nathula Pass, and Jelepla Pass (Sikkim).
But not to mention, the Silk Route is only for those who want to escape from their busy life and get close to nature, feeling the mountain village's beauty. You want to look at the snow-covered peaks of the Himalayas with immense fascination. Want to witness a unique feeling by seeing the famous of Juluk.
➡️Ideal time to travel the Silk Route:
January - February is the month for those who want to experience snow-covered valleys, mountain peaks, and extreme cold. During this time Zuluk or its upper road is closed.
March - April is the month for those who want to experience the beauty of snow and nature.
May - June is the best time when all roads are open.
July - August - September is mainly the monsoon season.
October - November - December is the best time when you can move around well in mild cold. But yes you need to take an authorization letter to travel on this route and your travel is totally dependent on that authorization.
➡️ Tour plan:
If you want to tour this route, roughly 4 nights and 5 days will be fine.
Due to lack of time, many people want to do it in 3 nights and 4 days, but if there is more time, it is possible to do it in 5 nights and 6 days.
First day from New Jalpaiguri / Siliguri / Bagdogra reach Chachgaon / Barmek. Second day stay at Arita / Mankhim. On the third day, go directly to Rangli with the permit. Travel along the Silk Route to Rollep or Reshikhola on the fourth day. Next day return to New Jalpaiguri/ Bagdogra.
Apart from this, you can visit Lava, Reshop, Kolakham, and Yoga with this route due to its proximity to Kalimpong district. Of course, in that case, it will be a long tour.
