The world’s most famous painting is not just priceless, it’s because a value can’t be exacted on it. After its appraisal in the 60’s, adjusted for inflation, the Mona Lisa would be valued at 900 million dollars. However, because of this sky high valuation, and recurring attempts at theft and defacement, (spray paint, acid, even cake!) insurers have given up on insuring it and instead opted for heightened protection. It’s a slow shuffle to see it and upon viewing it, visitors are surprised by how small it is!
