Looking for a new walking route this year? How about the Eamont Way, a 5.5 mile walking route from Penrith Railway Station to Pooley Bridge Steamer Pier.

The route follows the course of the river Eamont, crossing it twice. It starts with a series of signed pedestrian crossings from the railway station to the edge of the town, then follows a series of signed footpaths, bridleways and ‘permitted paths’ to exit at ‘The Sun Inn’ in Pooley Bridge. From there it is less than 1/2 mile to the pier for the Ullswater Steamers where onward lake travel to Howtown and Glenridding is on offer and onward from Glenridding to Aira Force.

You could get the bus back into Penrith for just £3 single fare!

Lake District walking routes restored by Fix the Fells.

Repair work has been completed on three walking routes in the Lake District.

The footpaths to Glenridding Dodd, Gowbarrow Fell, and Loughrigg Fell, popular for their accessibility and scenic views, were suffering from erosion due to heavy foot traffic and extreme weather.

An £88,000 donation from the UK Government's Shared Prosperity Fund, administered by Westmorland and Furness Council, along with £15,000 raised by the National Trust, Fix the Fells has successfully restored 1,750m of path across these three networks.
