CRUISE TIP:

Do I Need a Passport to Take a Cruise?

US Citizens taking a "closed loop" cruise are not required to have a Passport....However you will need to provide Proof of Citizenship.

Proof of Citizenship needs to be in the form of an Original or Certified Copy of your Birth Certificate, Certificate of Naturalization, a Passport Card or an Enhanced Drivers License (EDL) along with a Government Issued Photo ID.

Most Cruise lines strongly recommend that all guests travel with a Valid Passport.

**closed loop cruise- refers to a cruise that begins and ends in the same US port. In this case all you are required to carry is your certified Birth Certificate and a Government Issued ID.

IS A LARGE CRUISE SHIP RIGHT FOR YOU?

Lets talk about your Vacation Budget. Believe it or not most times Larger Cruise Ships boast Cheaper price tags. You may find that it is more economical for you to choose to vacation on a Large Cruise Ship in an Interior Stateroom than it would be to take a Balcony on a Smaller Ship.
Also keep in mind the your vacation dollars will go much further.

What if you really dont enjoy being around alot of people? No problem...you would be surprised at the number of places where you can get away and enjoy peace and quiet like outside decks, your balcony and the library. Why not take the opportunity to spoil yourself and visit the Spa.

What if you are a people person? Well you will find endless possibilities for group activities and awesome entertainment around the clock. There are seminars, Bingo games, the Casino. There are food demonstrations and sometimes ice carving demonstrations as well. The staff provide amazing shows and there are comedians onboard along with music for you to enjoy.

What if you are taking the children or grandchildren? The majority of the Larger Cruise ships are prepared to accomodate the young cruisers with kid friendly activities with dedicated staff to handle things. While they mingle with kids their own age it will provide you the opportunity to enjoy some adult companionship as well.

Finally, due to the size of some of these beautiful mega ships you are forced to visit some of the most amazing major cities and marvelous ports. Because of the size of these ships there are select ports that they are destined to visit; providing you with the best options in cruise travel.

Lets Visit Cozumel...
While Traveling with a Passport is Highly Recommended, it is not required as long as you are a passenger of a closed-loop cruise. (A closed-loop cruise-is one that begins and ends in the sameport city)
Consider that Cozumel is a mostly undeveloped island in the Caribbean, it is a popular cruise ship port famous for its scuba diving.
Now you can cross that off your bucket list.

CRUISE TIP:

WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER BOOKING AN INSIDE STATEROOM !!

Booking an inside Cabin or Stateroom makes $$'s and Cents.
When booking your Cruise keep your Budget in Mind. The reason I mention this is because lots of "Cruisers" get hung up on the type of stateroom that they book.

First thing that you need to consider is you Vacation Budget..do you plan on splurging on this vacation and "keep up with the Jones"? Consider saving some of that money to enjoy other things on your vacation instead.

Just because you book an inside cabin doesnt mean that you are giving up luxury. Not all Inside cabins are small. There are Large interior staterooms that are about 187 sq. ft. and then Larger Family sized staterooms than are between 260-324 sq. ft. in size. If you consider that the main thing that you will using you stateroom for include sleeping and a private place for changing clothes, then you can see that having an interior stateroom vs ocean view or balcony may be a smart way to save money.

Another thing you may want to consider when choosing interior staterooms vs other categories is the amount of time that you will actually be spending in your room. Once you board, you will want to explore the ship to locate the Spa, Dining, Casino, Auditorium or Aqua Theatre, Pools and Onboard Shops. There is so much to do. Once you have dinner, you may want to enjoy one of the shows or participate in one of the many Activities that the Crew has planned. There won't be alot of time spent in your room, trust me on this.

Finally, keep this in mind as well. The money that you will be saving on your stateroom can be used for shore excursions and tours, souvenirs or maybe on drinks and Bingo.

Regardless of what you decide, even if you choose an interior stateroom, you will still be aboard a Beautiful Cruise Ship (the same one that others may have spent more money on) with great amenities for you and your family to enjoy. Consider saving your stateroom for dressing and sleeping.
