Arrival on Aitutaki!! 🌺✨ Our first Whale Swim tour is starting this Friday and we can't wait! Especially knowing a mama humpback and her calf were spotted off the reef this morning on the North of the Island!

"Swimming with humpback whales has been a bucket list experience for me since I was a teenager. My husband kindly obliged and after some false starts due to Covid, we finally arrived in Moorea. (thankyou Rae for riding it through and being there at the end!) The island is a stunningly beautiful place with jagged, tropical mountains and warm, clear, vibrant blue waters. The lagoon and ocean were very fertile, offering up colourful coral, eagle rays, reef sharks, dolphins and colourful fish. Excellent snorkelling!

Rae has built a team, no, a family, of consummate professionals whose total, unyielding respect and gratitude for the whales shone through. The team had genuine care for the whales, each other and all their passengers and warmly welcomed us into their ‘family’. They guided the trip, ultimately providing for a profoundly awe inspiring experience that can still move us to tears if we let it. The gentle but playful curiosity of the calves, seeking us out in the water, peering at us and rolling back and forth in front of us will stay with us forever. All the while their mothers would keep a peaceful, but watchful eye over us, from the deep.

We enjoyed the ebb and flow of the week, with a natural balance of time to ourselves interspersed with world class dining provided by Emma and Matilda as the sun set….a perfect setting for sharing tales with such interesting, adventuring-seeking people, that swimming with majestic whales brings together.

A heartfelt thankyou to our co-whale swimmers, Rae, and her tremendous team! Totally a 5 star experience."

"I've recently returned from an incredible 7-day trip on the "Magical Humpbacks in Tahiti Tour" with whale swims, and I'm already planning my next visit! 🐋

Leading up to the tour, the Whale Swim team went above and beyond, keeping us well-informed by sending updates and addressing any questions we had. Their attention to detail made us feel prepared and supported.

Moorea welcomed us with its beautiful scenery – coconut trees, crystal-clear waters, and wildlife - a perfect location for a week-long stay.

The next day marked the beginning of our extraordinary tour, where we had the pleasure of meeting the other key members of the crew – the "Whale Whisperer" Maire, his son Moanarua, and his brother Tere'i. Their profound knowledge and experience with the ocean were evident, as they consistently located and identified the whales.

Throughout the tour, the entire team consistently demonstrated their respect for these magnificent creatures. Their commitment to responsible and ethical interactions with the whales was evident also as they avoided any behaviour that could potentially cause stress to the whales.

Overall, this has been the best holiday I've ever been on. The surreal moments of swimming alongside these gentle giants, listening to their songs in the open ocean, witnessing a baby whale breach right before our eyes, and respectfully immersing ourselves in their environment – all of this, combined with the outstanding location, warm hospitality, and expert knowledge of the crew, made for the perfect holiday. 🌟

Upon arrival, I couldn't help but notice that half of our Whale Swim team were returning customers, and now I completely understand why! 🤗

"I cannot put into words how amazing this trip and company were. The entire crew was exceptional. They all made us feel very comfortable in the water and were true whale whisperers! I also liked the fact that they were very respectful of the whales. If there were too many people in the water we would go look for other whales and were always able to find them. This was by far the best trip of my life and was truly life changing. I could not recommend this company enough and would love to come back some day!"

Scientists on the Whale-SETI team have successfully communicated with a humpback whale named Twain, having a 20-minute “conversation” with the aquatic animal. This historic experiment involved a recorded whale call that the team played into the ocean using an underwater speaker, which led Twain to circle their boat and respond using a “greeting signal.” The exchange lasted for 20 minutes, and Twain would match the interval variations from the team’s calls, indicating that the two parties were indeed communicating with each other.
