Please enjoy this selection of photos posted by our clients from a recent trip to the Okavango that Alan McSmith guided. A wonderful and truly memorable trip with incredible sightings. Thank you for sharing your memories with us!

Today, Botswana is among the few countries where African elephants live in safety. Camping in the Okavango, with guide Alan McSmith, we could sit and walk among them in peace, and feel the depth of their presence.

From the oldest known human portrait carved into a mammoth tusk 30 000 years ago, to the CITES conference of 2016, man and elephant are deeply connected. The disappointing resolution from global role-players that emerged from the conference will have long standing effects on elephant conservation. E...

As a feature of our wilderness trails, we often have open discussions about how nature and wildlife encounters influence us while on trail. Frequently these indabas [Zulu for ‘meeting’] are moving and emotional affairs, for a wilderness experience can be a life changing episode. I recall one such mo...

Could this be you in October?

Eleanor O’Hanlon, award-winning writer and conservationist has asked us to organise a trip to the Okavango Delta to research her next book. The safari will include our Botswana flagship safari http://www.giantstridesahead.com/botswana where we will walk the islands and pole our way through channels of the Delta’s pristine wilderness.

Eleanor’s award winning book, ‘Eyes of the Wild’, takes the reader into remote wilderness areas, and deep encounters with whales, wolves, brown bears, polar bears and wild horses. Elephants are the focus for her next book.

She has worked with outstanding scientists, explorers, and nature photographers on projects to raise awareness and help protect wilderness and wildlife. Her articles on animal consciousness and conservation have appeared in a wide range of magazines and anthologies, from BBC Wildlife, Geo, Animan and other magazines in Europe and the US.

The trip will depart from Maun, (9 - 21 October 2016) and can be split into two sections if your time is limited. There are 4 spaces available if you would like to join us for this adventure.
