Vi fiskar i en grupp om 4-5 personer och transport till fiskeplatserna sker med vår oömma Buster X aluminiumbåt. Väl på plats kan vi välja att fiska från land, flytring eller från båten med några i gruppen. Den erfarna guiden hjälper till med allt från fiskeplatser och kastteknik till flugval och fisketeknik. Båten är utrustad med frontmonterad elmotor med fjärrkontroll samt drivankare vilket ger perfekta drifter utmed heta öringställen.

Here are some pictures from summer/fall 2014, and it´s been a really nice time! I have got some decent images in between and made two trips to Norway for sea fishing, kayaking and fly fishing. Around Gothenburg I have spent time on the coast of course, in the small streams and also gone for perch and rainbow trout in the local lakes. Then of course some trips to the pike-bays in the Baltic.

A short summary of the spring season so far; fishing for sea run brown trout on the west coast of Sweden around Gothenburg. The early spring did halt a bit when we got into April, and with chilly weather entering from east and north the water temp has been quite low all month, and are now around 11 degrees C in the sea. Fishing has been good for the most part, but the easterly winds pushes the water off the coast and creates low and clear water. Reports from the area shows a good number of nice fish, and many fish are over the 50 cm mark. My guided trips with guests has been quite ok, with between 7 and 15 fish landed, and a fair number of them in decent size.

The sea trout season is finally on! It´s been a mild and humid winter here on the west coast of Sweden, with very little ice and mostly open water. We have done some pike fishing with good success, but now the main focus is sea run brown trout in the coastal archipelago. Plenty of guided trips in the books so we hope for a good time!

The late season fishing in the Gothenburg area has been really good lately as the water temp is getting into the 13-15 degree C zone. Have had clients fishing for rainbow trout at Koberg with great result, and the coastal fishing is just excellent at the moment. Last saturday we set the new boat record with 52 searun browns landed on four guests, but the average size could have been better.

The summer so far have been really nice with awesome summer weather and good fishing. Plenty of mackerel along the coast, a few 60+ searun browns in the dark for me and my friends and a trip to Greenland flyfishing and cooking for a group from Getaway Tours. Have had some good days on the water lately with small company groups from SEB and Imtech. Great people to be out with, good food in sheltered bays and searun brown on fly and spin.

The last few trips has rendered some ok fish, but even with quite rough and windy conditions the fish has been quite careful with lots of light grabs and long distance releases.

After the Wilderness Fair in Oslo/Norway the staff from FlyFishEurope / Scott / Simms / WWL packed their bags and headed south to Sweden. Is was a mix of Norwegian and US folks, with artist Derek DeYoung, his wife Janell DeYoung and Scott artist Theresa Montano-Van Nooten in the group. Fly fishing for searun brown trout was on the menu, and day one started slow with cold and clear weather. We covered several places and found some small fish, but the boys who stayed and fished Homebay did well and landed a dozen fish. In the picture Derek covers a nice piece of beach. More to follow….

The first week of the season on the coast has been quite tough due to cold easterly winds, low water and ice in the deep bays. But as the sun´s been shining all day the fishing has been ok in the afternoons and evenings. If you find the small spots with warmer water there is often plenty of fish in the same place feeding hard.

Yesterday morning me, Peter & Flyfiction-Andreas did an early morning trip up the coast. We were blessed with a magical sunset and rising searun browns in the outlet of a small tidal creek. Not easy to fool, but we landed some ten fish before lunch, only smaller fish though. In the picture Andreas makes his first cast of day.

Last week some of the old Hökensås staff members met up at lake Strandgölen for some fishing and to catch up on everything. We did catch some really nice rainbow trout, mostly on caddis pupas just in the surface. Thanks all and especially Otto for making it happen.

A picture from the guided trip last sunday with Anton and his family from Moscow, Russia. We landed some 25 mackerel and a nice sea trout of 46 cm.

The schools of mackerel are now here in good numbers all the way into the deep bays. Good fun on light tackle on a nice summer day with the family.

Not much left of the fly from last night on the coast. Very simple and effective, an anorectic strip of orange rabbit and some olive/brown fluff in front. I believe the key is a fast and irregular twist to imitate the hatching clam worms, or long strips while shaking the rod tip á la Andy Mill feeding a tarpon.

Have got some really nice browns in june, while testing new rods from Scott and Winston. This time it´s their entry level models at the bench.

On tuesday I had a long day on the coast with mr Scott Connor from USA. The conditions looked really promising with southerly winds and a nice cloud cover, but low water. We fisher several different locations and depths, but the fishing was unfortunately slow with only a handful contacts and long distance releases. Thanks Scott for hanging in there!

The water level on the coast during the last few days has been extremely low at times, due to northeasterly winds, weak moon and high air pressure over land. Some bays were totally dry, and we could walk on sand over places where we normally put our flies.

Monday´s evening trip with the new Wilderness Systems kayak Tarpon 120 worked out really well. It was a pleasure to use and will be a nice way of fishing the coastal waters of the west coast.

Sunday´s guiding day with Johan Sund ended with 16 searun browns in the boat, but mostly smaller fish. Lots of rising fish and we fished a new spot that produced a lot of action. Wind straight from east, 4-5 m/s, sufrace water temp 6,9-7,6 C. The Bold reel did it´s job, but a totally new way to use a flyreel.
